Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Malaysia prices start from RM4,099 with preorder free gifts

Fresh from the global Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event in San Jose, Samsung has announced the launch of the titular Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra phones for the Malaysia market.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series specs recap

To recap, the Galaxy S24 series are Samsung’s latest flagship phones and are the first Galaxy series phones to have on-device AI capabilities using their own in-house Galaxy AI construct that combines on-device and on-cloud access to resolve a number of image remastering, translation and writing related tasks effectively. 

The new line-up have Samsung’s luscious Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with the entire range all the way down to the baseline Galaxy S24 featuring 1- 120hz adaptive refresh rates which will offer major improvements to battery life. Screen sizes and resolution vary with the baseline Galaxy S24 having a 6.2-inch FHD+ display, the Galaxy S24+ a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ display and the Galaxy S24 Ultra having a 6.8-inch Quad HD+ display.

Samsung will also feature two different processors for the Galaxy S24 series depending on region and variant with options for either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SoC which is an overclocked variant over the stock version or Samsung’s own in-house Exynos 2400 SoC for Galaxy processor.

The flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra will universally feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset across the board regardless of region. In the case of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus, the choice of processor will be different depending on region with options for the Exynos 2400 for Galaxy processor or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor.

For Malaysia, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature the top of the line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor  seen in the competition while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus will use the Exynos 2400 for Galaxy processor.

The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus have the same triple rear camera array built around a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra wide angle camera along with a front-facing 12MP autofocus selfie camera.

The largest and most powerful camera array and upgrades are reserved for the Galaxy S24 Ultra which has a 200MP primary camera with OIS, a secondary 12MP ultra wide angle camera and a dual telephoto camera array with a 50MP and 10MP camera with 5x and 3x optical zoom respectively as well as the ability to capture up to 100x Space Zoom. Selfies are handled by a similar 12MP selfie camera as the smaller Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is also notably the only phone out of the lot to have an integrated S Pen stylus for writing and to act as a means to control selected phone functions remotely much like its predecessor the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Malaysia – processors, RAM, colour and storage options

For Malaysia, Samsung will be offering the full range of official colourways for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra announced at Galaxy Unpacked 2024 along with online-exclusive colourways at the Samsung Online store.

Both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus get Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet and Amber Yellow colourway options while the Galaxy S24 Ultra gets Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Violet and Titanium Yellow.

There will also be online exclusive colours as well for Malaysia with the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ featuring Sandstone Orange, Sapphire Blue and Jade Green while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have Titanium Blue, Titanium Orange and Titanium Green colourways.

In terms of processor, RAM and storage configurations, Samsung Malaysia will be offering the Galaxy S24 with 8GB RAM while the Galaxy S24 Plus will have 12GB RAM. Both variants will feature the Exynos 2400 for Galaxy processor with 256GB and 512GB storage options for both. 

The top of the line Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature 12GB RAM and 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options for consideration. In terms of pricing, here’s how the new range will stack up:

When compared to last year’s prices for the Galaxy S23 series at launch, the Galaxy S24 series has had a modest price hike across the board though the biggest bump up in price is for the 1TB version of the Galaxy S24 Ultra by RM600 compared to the 1TB S23 Ultra last year on account of the use of titanium in the chassis and new Galaxy AI updates. The 512GB version of the Galaxy S24 Ultra has also had an RM500 price increase while the baseline 256Gb version costs RM600 more. Here’s a summary of the prices:

The Galaxy S24+ 512GB and 256GB both have RM200 price increases which are modest while the baseline Galaxy S24 has now been standardised to 256GB and 512GB storage options with a surprising price drop of RM100 for the 256GB model (RM4,099) compared to last years Galaxy S23 256GB (RM4,199)
