Samsung rolls out One UI 6 with Auto Blocker for added peace of mind for Galaxy phones

security updates with Samsung Galaxy S23 series owners now enjoying an update to the latest One UI 6 along with an update to Android 14 with owners of other Samsung phones enjoying updates in stages over the coming weeks. On top of the usual enhancements to functionality, including a new more comprehensive nonlinear movie editor, one of the biggest updates to One UI 6 is the addition of what Samsung refers to as Auto Blocker which intelligently prevents nasty malware from being installed on the phone.

Samsung Auto Blocker features

While sideloading is part and parcel of the Android experience, it does carry a host of risks that non savvy users can fall prey to. The addition of Auto Blocker on One UI 6 acts to prevent app installations from unauthorised sources beyond the Google Play Store though this is off by default.

Once activated, it helps offer peace of mind as it can conduct security checks to detect potential malware and prevent nasty commands or software installations from being executed from a USB cable such as when plugged into a charging port at a public place like an airport.

Another feature to Auto Blocker is the means to mitigate Zero Click attempts which involve potential attacks via users accessing images that can potentially contain malicious code which certainly offers added peace of mind.
