Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sale breaks records

One of the last and largest sales campaigns of the year from Shopee certainly yielded impressive results as the brand has reported that Malaysians took full advantage of the sales period to stock up on essentials.

During the course of the Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sale, the brand had close to a million, or to be specific, a tad over 875,000 items sold across all categories in Selangor alone in the first hour of December 12th 2020 for their Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sale.

This tally of online retail therapy gets even more impressive. The Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sales also saw 12 million items sold in the first 24 minute of the sale and one user actually managed to accomplish the astounding feat of making 180 orders on the sale itself. At its peak, 1 million items were bought in a single minute.

Seeing as people were mostly working from home, over 12 million home improvement and decor items were sold and over 670,000 stationery items were purchased while over 200,000 school uniforms, bags, shoes and other academic impedimenta were sold on the 12.12 Birthday Sale, likely as school is just around the corner.

Other interesting purchases by Malaysians included over 500,000 snacks purchased on the platform including 120 packs of Milo being sold per minute from the moment the sale started. In terms of their ShopeePay e-wallet, the brand noted that there was an 18x increase in orders paid via their ShopeePay solution.
