Sony Bravia 5, Bravia 8 II and Bravia 2 II specs and price
For the uninitiated, the Sony Bravia 5 is a 98-inch Mini LED 4K UHD Smart TV that runs Google TV under the hood and notably features XR Backlight Master Drive, the same technology culled from Sony’s professional-grade monitors for precise local dimming to ensure faithful, lifelike colour rendition and contrast.
The Bravia 5 also features a Studio Calibrated mode, a Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode and a Sony Pictures Core Calibrated mode, all of which ensures content looks exactly as the studio intended. On the acoustic front, the Sony Bravia 5 also has IMAX Enhanced as well as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. The Bravia 5 also offers reduced power consumption that leverages Sony’s proprietary signal processing to automatically optimises content while reducing power consumption. Those with less than palatially-sized homes can also opt for smaller variants that include a 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch model.
Also revealed is the Sony Bravia 8 II is notably a slim and light design that acts as a statement piece in any room. The Bravia 8 II features a 4K QD-OLED panel with 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate that is a mere 34mm slim at its thinnest point, making it seem like a floating picture frame. Like the Bravia 5, the Sony Bravia 8 II runs Google TV under the hood and also uses a series of actuators behind the screen that they’ve dubbed as Acoustic Surface Audio+ tech for that kicks out sound straight from the panel itself. It also supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos as well. In Malaysia, the slim Sony Bravia 8 II comes in both 55-inch and 65-inch screen sizes.
Intended as an affordable yet large-sized option, tthe case of the Sony Bravia 2 II, you get up to a 75-inch 4K UHD LED panel that has 4K X-Reality PRO upscaling tech for lower resolution content and it also runs Google TV. You can also get it in smaller 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch sizes.
In terms of pricing, the Sony Bravia 5 with a 98-inch display is available for RM29,999 and customers who snag it can also get a free Sony bravia Theatre Bar 9 soundbar, a Premium wireless SA-SW5 subwoofer and RM300 in TNG credit for a limited time.
