Sony has teamed up with Grammy-winning pop star Olivia Rodrigo to create a special edition variant of their popular LinkBuds S wireless earbuds dubbed the Sony LinkBuds S x Olivia Rodrigo edition. This special variant is is now available for preorders in Malaysia with a slated arrival date of 1st November 2023 and an RM929 price tag.
What are the Sony LinkBuds S x Olivia Rodrigo earbuds
Aesthetically speaking, the Sony LinkBuds S x Olivia Rodrigo have a number of unique aesthetic and firmware tweaks to a standard issue LinkBuds S earbud but have a similar silhouette and chassis. Where they differ is that the special edition earbuds feature a sleek marbled purple colourway adorning the charging case and earbuds styled by Rodrigo herself.
This marbled pattern is randomised and unique to each individual unit on account of the recycled materials like reclaimed water bottles, automobile parts and factory recovered plastic used in its manufacture such that every pair looks visually distinct from the other.
In addition to its eye-catching design, the Sony LinkBuds S x Olivia Rodrigo earbuds also feature a pair of customised EQ modes tuned by Rodrigo and her producer Daniel Nigro that are accessible via the Sony Headphones Connect app which are tuned to fully optimise the acoustics of Rodrigo’s albums dubbed SOUR and GUTS.
On top of the customised colourway and unique EQ settings, the Sony LinkBuds S x Olivia Rodrigo features the same noise cancelling and Hi-Res audio wireless support as the mainline units and Sony’s LDAC audio coding technology for superior quality audio.
The earbuds also retain the same ultra light design with each earbud weighing just 4.8g while integrating a 5mm driver enhanced with Sony’s own Integrated Processor V1 chip. Battery life is slated at about 14 hours inclusive of the charging case and 6 hours of use on a single charge.
