Sony’s Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact leaked ahead of MWC2018
Mobile World Congress 2018 iis days away in Barcelona and Sony Mobile’s star attractions have been revealed ahead of their slated debut by noted leaker Even Blass who shared just what Sony’s two new phones, dubbed the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact look like and what they have under the hood.
Both new phones make a departure from Sony Mobile’s erstwhile traditional designs that feature a flat top and bottom with generous bezels. The renders of the new Xperia XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact now feature a more contemporary design with rounded corners and a screen sheathed in 3D glass that stretches vertically to offer one of the widest screen-to-body ratios ever seen in any Xperia phone ever made with extremely thin top and bottom bezels. Both phones now sport a separate fingerprint sensor that has been relocated to the rear of the phone.
In terms of rear cameras, both phones sport a similar setup with hardware culled from the high-end XZ Premium currently in service in the form of a 19-MP, F/1.8 camera capable of ultra slo-mo 1080P and 4K HDR video capture. The XZ2 Compact has a slightly smaller 5.0-inch Full HD display while the larger 5.7-inch XZ2 has a similar Full HD resolution though with more screen real estate. Both phones will come with a Snapdragon 845 processor running the latest Android Oreo 8.0 though storage and RAM have not been announced ahead of its official launch.
Battery sizes for both phones also differ slightly with the XZ2 compact sporting a smaller 2,870mAh battery while the larger XZ2 has a 3,180mAh battery. Both are charged via a USB Type C cable though the XZ2 also features wireless charging. Both phones will be revealed in all their glory, including how much they will cost at the official launch which will take place on Monday at 3.30PM, Malaysia time.
