Samsung CEO and Head of DX, TM Roh shares insights with global launch of Galaxy S26 series

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series made its global debut at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, which saw the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 along with the Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds4. After Galaxy Unpacked 2026, TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer, President and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics led a panel session, sharing his insights and the empowering capabilities of AI embodied in the new Galaxy S26. 

According to Roh, 9 out of 10 young people in Southeast Asia use AI on their mobile devices daily while 7 out of 10 Southeast Asian users believe that AI will improve their quality of life. Roh also shared that Southeast Asia and Oceania regions hold immense potential and are the regions that are adopting AI innovations the fastest.

Samsung’s agentic AI approach that are embodied in the new Galaxy S26 series aims to supercharge this growth in AI adoption with a more intuitive, streamlined ability for AI to get things done and help in the background to make life simpler. At present, the first wave of the Galaxy S26 series will be launched in five markets in the region – Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore .

“Our customers in Southeast Asia and Oceania have very high expectations for the latest technology,” he said. To meet the needs and demands of consumers in the region, he shared that “the Galaxy S26 is built to deliver the most powerful mobile performance to date, elevating the camera experience to the next level and is designed to help users complete daily tasks more quickly and naturally with enhanced Galaxy AI.”

Roh further stressed the importance of localisation, seeing the array of languages that are in use in the Southeast Asia and Oceanic regions and that Samsung is striving to to optimise Galaxy AI for local languages, context and environments at three Samsung R&D centres in Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
