Table of Contents
For the uninitiated, the vivo X200 FE is a compact flagship phone that hosts a flat 6.31-inch LTPO FHD+ AMOLED ZEISS Master Display with a crisp 1,216 x 2,640 pixels resolution, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and the display also features 2,160 PWM for better eye comfort. The panel also offers up to 4,500 nits peak brightness, allowing for clear visibility even under direct sunlight.

Powering the phone is a Mediatek Dimensity 9300+ processor running Android 15 with their own FunTouch OS 15 overlaying it complete with support for Google’s Gemini AI assistant. Complementing this setup is 12GB LPDDR5X RAM with an additional 12GB of virtual Extended RAM assigned off the onboard 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.
Keeping the phone powered is a surprisingly large 6,500mAh BlueVolt silicon-carbon battery that offers exceptional endurance especially for heavy camera usage in the field. This is complemented by 90W FlashCharge wired charging for quick top-ups. All this is encased in a posh looking chassis that features robust IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, allowing it to survive humid climates and unpredictable weather.
This flagship-grade setup was easily able to tackle day to day tasks including mobile video editing on CapCut. While the smaller screen may not be ideal for long editing sessions, the one-handed ergonomics make it perfect for quick edits on the go.
What makes the vivo X200 FE stand out is its surprisingly robust triple camera array. Belying its 7.9mm slim dimensions, the vivo X200 FE camera setup is built around a primary 50MP ZEISS f/1.88 main camera which uses a high-end IMX921 VCS Bionic sensor paired with optical image stabilisation (OIS) for steady shots and video.

Accompanying this is an equally large 50MP f/2.65 ZEISS Super telephoto camera with a ½-inch Sony IMX882 sensor with the ability to capture 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. To accommodate the slim dimensions of the phone, vivo implemented a trapezoidal prism periscope that creates an M-shaped path of light for the telephoto zoom assembly, rather than the usual L-shaped path to reduce the size and thickness of the camera bump without any loss in performance. Rounding off the triple camera setup is an 8MP f/2.0 ultra wide angle camera with a 108-degree field of view located in a separate housing away from the two 50MP zEISS cameras.
Complementing this triple camera setup and emplaced just beneath the ultra wide angle camera is vivo’s AI Aura Light Portrait that allows you to adjust colour temperature from 1800 to 5,200K for cooler and warmer tones to taste. While the hardware is one thing, what makes the vivo X200 FE cameras exceptional are the array of modes and AI-driven shooting modes and improved computational photography tools that make the vivo X200 FE cameras a potent and versatile imaging experience for novices and experts alike.
vivo X200 FE Camera Review – AI Photography Features
Beyond the hardware, the vivo X200 FE cameras leverage the brand’s close association with ZEISS to implement a number of powerful AI-drive shooting modes and features. While it isn’t readily apparent or selectable, the vivo X200 FE cameras, especially the 50MP ZEISS Super telephoto camera benefits from vivo’s AI Ultra Clear Image Algorithm that runs in the background, leveraging AI and vivo’s own algorithms to dynamically enhance sharpness and detail at long focal lengths.
In effect, AI Ultra Clear Image Algorithm corrects the usual array of common issues befalling telephoto shots including shake, distortion and the loss of detail and allows for sharper, crisper shots especially when capturing architectural and greenery shots as well as small objects like flowers and birds even from significant distances.

vivo X200 FE Camera Review – 10x – Detail in the architecture and the greenery are retained even at significant distances
In practical terms, vivo has allowed for better quality shots at midrange distances such as at 6x zoom and retain viewable clarity even at 10x zoom which enhances the vivo X200 FE camera’s creative repertoire significantly This improved clarity at longer focal lengths is one of the X200 FE’s unexpected strengths, especially for street and cityscape photography, where maintaining detail at a distance is often a challenge due to passer by and other. I found it particularly useful to capture good shots from afar especially in crowded locales like street performance where moving closer to the action is not an option or to get more creative framing options in sectioned off areas like an art exhibition.
While a 100x digital zoom mode does exist on the phone, results are admittedly modest; something even competing devices have yet to master with best results when capturing large, recognisable monuments or buildings from afar.

A quick snap and the phone retains excellent detail on these spring onions over a Chinese dimsum meal
Of note, especially for users who know their way around camera settings is that the vivo X200 FE cameras and its Pro mode now allow users to capture shots in RAW format which allows for more extensive photo editing and opens up even more creative options in Lightroom.
vivo X200 FE Camera Review – Portrait Mode, Stage Mode and AI Four Seasons Portrait Mode
Beyond the usual night and video modes, the phone’s Portrait mode stands out, with the option to select from the type of bokeh flare available from eight possible choices (Natural, Biotar, B-speed, Sonnar, Planar, Distagon, Cine-flare and Cinematic) and what vivo refers to as ZEISS Multifocal Portrait mode, a collection of scenario-based settings at different focal lengths with tones and settings tuned by ZEISS for instant, effective results with the signature ZEISS look without the need for extensive photography experience.

At your beck and call in ZEISS Multifocal Portrait mode is a 23mm that’s ideal for photo shots with equal emphasis on background scenery, a 35mm mode for street portraiture and environmental photography, a 50mm mode that’s optimised for half-body portraits, an 85mm setting for closer portraiture that’s closer from the chest up and a 100mm mode for intimate close-up portraits. For novices who aren’t intimately familiar with tweaking camera settings, ZEISS Multifocal Portrait mode lets you get shareworthy shots straight out of the phone.

Beyond portrait mode, what particularly stands out is vivo’s implementation of a unique Stage mode that – you guessed it – is specifically designed to optimally capture stage performances even in dim light. There are nuances to this though and it’s not a case of you sitting at the rearmost seat in a stadium to capture BlackPink performing – that’s where the X200 Pro with its emphasis on superior telephoto zoom in tandem with Stage mode come into the picture.

vivo X200 FE Camera Review – Even with irregular lighting, Stage mode as able to capture great results from the onstage performance from a dozen paces away
Instead, vivo has tuned Stage mode on the vivo X200 FE cameras for more intimate performances within a dozen paces such as in a bar, an indoor performance or a small live set within a distance between 3-10 metres while capturing the facial features of performers in a lifelike manner while retaining accurate colour rendition and detail.
vivo X200 FE Camera Review – AI Four Seasons Portrait Mode
- Spring
- Summer
- Autumn
- Winter
One particularly whimsical and highly creative feature is an AI Four Seasons Portrait mode that allows users to create spring, summer, autumn or winter backgrounds on demand. In effect, you can shoot scenery and people and then leverage AI to transform said scenery into whichever season you require. The shots need to be uploaded to the cloud and are not on-device so you need data and some patience but the transformed shots look impressive and it never ceases to amuse us to take a shot in tropical Malaysia and turn the scenery into something straight out of the dead of winter.
