New vivo Y31s 5G tough budget phone launched at RM1,199 in Malaysia

There’s burgeoning demand for budget devices and vivo’s new Y31s 5G looks set to meet the needs of those who are both butter-fingered and on a budget as it is officially priced from RM1,199 at launch and comes with impressive drop as well as dust and water resistance.

On the hardware front, the vivo V731s 5G hosts a 6.745-inch FHD LCD display with 2,408 x 1,080 pixels resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, runs a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor paired with either 6GB or 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. Running under the hood is Android 11 overlaid with their own Origin 6.0.

The rear comes with a dual camera setup that consists of a 50MP main camera paired with a 2MP bokeh camera while the front hosts a single 32MP wide angle camera. Other features of note include a set of stereo speakers capable of up to 400% volume output if you really need to go loud.

Keeping the lights on is a 6,500mAh BlueVolt battery with 44W FlashCharge wired fast charging. This puts the hardware squarely as an entry-level device but where it gains appeal is its durability with the phone rated with an IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance rating along with an SGS 5-star drop resistance rating. Combined, this lends it a level of damage resistance capable of surviving most common mishaps.3
