The awesome Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 for Malaysia processor, price and details here’s what you need to know!

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 live stream, Samsung revealed to the world their latest Galaxy Tab S8 series tablets that come in three variants and their premier flagship Galaxy S22 series phones. They also revealed additional details about the Galaxy S22 series for Malaysia including their processors, RAM and storage configurations, price and more including what accessories they’ll come with.

What processor does the Galaxy S22 for Malaysia have?

In a break with tradition, all three variants of the Galaxy S22 series for Malaysia will instead use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and will skip the typical Exynos processors that have previously powered almost every incarnation of the series locally. For those who have always been on the fence, this added impetus with the use of Qualcomm’s flagship mobile processor ought to get them to hop onto the Galaxy S22 series bandwagon.

As a broad comparison to its predecessor the Galaxy S21’s Snapdragon 888 processor, it offers 5% CPU, 30% GPU and 73% NPU more powerful performance.

For Malaysia, Samsung will issue all colour variants for the Galaxy S22 series. This means that you can acquire the Galaxy S22 Ultra in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Burgundy for all storage configurations. 

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus can be acquired in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Pink Gold for all storage/RAM configurations as well. Unfortunately we weren’t able to rustle up all the Galaxy S22 for Malaysia phones in all their colour variants for a family photo so we’ve added this render for reference.

Samsung Galaxy S22 for Malaysia accessories 

This time around, Samsung Malaysia will be shipping a slew of accessories to accompany their Galaxy S22 series phones for Malaysia. They’ll be issuing semi rigid polycarbonate cases for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra that snap onto the back to protect them which come in a variety of colours. At a special press briefing they were spotted in black, burgundy and a canary yellow.

Another interesting accessory spotted were armoured cases with kickstands. These sport ridges at the back, a plastic kickstand for movie watching duties and a thickened bumper to withstand knocks and dents to some degree. Spotted were cases fitted for a Galaxy S22 Ultra and for the Galaxy S22.

Samsung also showcased a rather unique set of silicone casings with detachable straps to make them easier to grasp for viewing at the back somewhat akin to those seen on the Galaxy Z Flip3 last year.

However, this time around, you’ll have to buy the casing and then a random blind box to get your hands on the attached strap which will come with Marvel superheroes, Disney based designs including the Mouse himself and others with 20 designs available. The interesting challenge here is that the boxes are completely random so you won’t necessarily get the strap you want the first time unless you’re insanely lucky.

Last but not least, Samsung also showcased a long sought after set of accessories – attachable filters for their smartphones! The filters are huge, allowing for them to securely cover the rear triple and quad camera array of their flagship phones and while it seems to be built for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it’s also possible to retrofit it onto the Galaxy S21 Ultra too. At present, Samsung is offering ND8 and CPL filters as options. 

There were no official prices or launch dates revealed yet for the accessories intended for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 for Malaysia but keep an eye on www.samsung.com/my for details!

At present, they did not list the price of the cheapest Galaxy S22 Ultra variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage but it will be more than the Galaxy S22 Plus 256GB and less than the Galaxy S22 Ultra 128GB so it’ll likely hover between RM4,299 and RM5,099. 

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S22 series for Malaysia will be widely available in carrier and Unlocked by Samsung versions via preferred carriers, retailers and www.samsung.com/my
