Panasonic Lumix S9 compact full-frame mirrorless camera now on preorder from RM7,599
Panasonic have introduced their new Lumix S9 compact full-frame mirrorless camera in Malaysia that has been optimised for the new generation of content creators. The camera will offer a preorder programme through June 2024 that starts from RM7,599 for the body alone and a street date of early July 2024.
What is the Panasonic Lumix S9
The Panasonic Lumix S9 is a full-frame mirrorless compact camera that comes with a relatively compact, flat body that weighs 403g and comes in four possible colourways at launch though only three colourways sans the silver variant are available in Malaysia.
The camera supports L-mount lenses and hosts a 24.2-MP full-frame CMOS sensor that has up to 6.5-stops of stabilisation via 5-axis Dual Image Stabilisation tech. Shots and videos are framed via the rear articulated 3-inch LCD touch panel which has 1.94 million dots resolution though the camera lacks an electronic viewfinder (EVF).
Of note is that the Panasonic Lumix S9 has a new 4K MP4 Lite recording format for video that takes up 41% less space and is 1.7x faster to transfer to other devices, especially smartphones, by reducing the data rate to 50Mbps. This is more than sufficient for social media use especially for short-form content creators like those on TikTok, Douyin and Facebook Reels.
Another optimisation that the Panasonic Lumix S9 offers to content creators is the addition of a new Lumix Lab mobile app that pairs with the Lumix S9 and allows users to rapidly transfer content to the phone itself and also create original LUTS and download LUTs from other content creators so you can get the look you want with far less trouble.
The Lumix Lab app also allows users to resize aspect ratios to suit all the usual social media platforms. There’s even a dedicated LUT button on the rear camera to instantly see results after capturing content.
Also at the launch, Panasonic introduced the Lumix S 26mm F8 (S-R26) pancake lens priced at RM1,099 as well as the more versatile Lumix S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 lens priced at RM4,899.
In Malaysia, the Panasonic Lumix S9 is available for preorder at retail outlets from 30 May to 30 June 2024 priced at RM7,599 for the body only and RM8,999 with an R2060 lens with your choice of either Jet Black or Dark Olive colourways.
If you preorder it from Lazada or Shopee from 6 – 30 June 2024, you can acquire it at the same price point though colour choices are slightly different with your choice of either Jet Black or Crimson Red. All preorders at retail outlets or online come with a free SmallRig L-Shape Handle, a battery pack and 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SD card.
