Vivo V5 Plus up for preorders in Malaysia for RM1,799
While Vivo has kept a tight lid on their next flagship phone, local Malaysia distributor DirectD has listed it as available for preorders at a price tag of RM1,799 inclusive of GST.
For your money, the Vivo V5 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch 1080P touchscreen sheathed in 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 to shrug off dents and dings. The phone will run Android Marshmallow 6.0 overlaid with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 3.0 on a Snapdragon 625 2.0GHz octacore processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage via a dual hybrid SIM card. The rear camera will come with a 16-MP camera that has an F/2.0 lens and PDAF.
The front is where the magic is at as it boasts of an epic dual-front camera system that consist of a 20-MP Sony IMX376 sensor with an F/2.0 aperture and 5P lens paired an 8-MP sensor that captures depth information. This ought to offer some deliciously good bokeh and for low light shots it packs what it calls a softlight selfie. The phone is also able to allow you to refocus the bokeh even after taking a shot.
The front also has a fingerprint sensor that also doubles as a home button with a nippy 0.2 second unlocking time. Another interesting bonus is the addition of an AK4376 audio chip for superior audio reproduction when you play music off the built-in speakers or via the 3.5mm audio jack.
The Vivo V5 Plus also comes with a 3,160mAh battery with fast charging support. Based on the preorder site, it only ships in one colour: gold. Preorders will ship with a mystery gift with the official launch happening tomorrow (20 January) in Malaysia and availability the day immediately after on 21 January though you’ll have to drop by DirectD’s store at Subang Jaya or Petaling Jaya for pick-up.
