Acer launches Chromebook Plus 515 and 514 laptops from US$400
Chromebooks are often the laptop of choice for academic scenarios and business outfits for their robust firmware, ease of deployment and efficient management at scale but they’re usually not known for being powerful choices for heavy duty work though Acer is looking to address that with their new Chromebook Plus series laptops dubbed the Chromebook Plus 515 and Chromebook Plus 514 that offer better hardware, crisper displays and overall better performance.

Of note with the new Acer Chromebook Plus series is an uprated MIL-STD 810H rating for drops and continued operation in extremes of temperature, stereo speakers with DTS Audio along with 1080p webcams that pack Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) and Blue Glass lens as standard issue across the range.
The new range also gets access to the web version of Photoshop and Adobe Express Premium for three months for free. Sustainability is given a nod too with the new designs and use recycled materials, sustainable packaging and Energy Star certification for its design.
The Acer Chromebook Plus 515
The new Acer Chromebook Plus 515 as a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display in touch and non-touch variants, either 12th or 13th Gen Intel Core processors running ChromeOS, either 8GB or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, up to 512GB SSD storage, fast WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, dual USB Type-C ports and HDMI too.
The Acer Chromebook Plus 514
The Acer Chromebook Plus 514 has a 14-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) resolution display with a 16:10 aspect ratio in touch and non-touch capable variants and can pack up to an AMD Ryzen 5 7520-C processor running ChromeOS, either 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 256GB SSD storage and WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, dual USB Type-C and HDMI ports.
Acer Chromebook Plus 515 and Chromebook Plus 514 price
At launch, the Acer Chromebook Plus 515 and the Chromebook Plus 514 will both be priced at US$399.99 (about RM1,890) with a slated arrival in the United States this month. At present, there’s no announcement yet of a Malaysia debut for these two Chromebooks but we’ll keep you posted.
