AEON Bank makes Malaysia debut as first Islamic digital bank

AEON Bank officially made its debut as Malaysia’s first islamic digital bank today in a launch that took place at AEON Mall Shah Alam.

Among the invited guests at the event which included the Guest of Honour YBhg. Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance; YM Raja Teh Maimunah, CEO of AEON Bank (M) Berhad; Mr. Naoya Okada, Managing Director of AEON Co. (M) Berhad; Mr. Shunsuke Shirakawa, Chairman of AEON Financial Service Co., Ltd., Japan; Mr. Mitsugu Tamai, Director and Managing Executive Officer of AEON Financial Service Co., Ltd. Japan; Mr. Daisuke Maeda, Managing Director, AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad; Mr. Tomokatsu Yoshitoshi, Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of AEON Bank (M) Berhad; as well as members of the Board of Directors and dignitaries from financial and banking institutions, regulatory bodies and core business partners.

AEON Bank features and launch promotions

At present, AEON Bank offers a selection of personal banking digital product services including Savings Account-i with a selection of budgeting tools and customisable features with  more to come in the future.

As part of their launch campaign, AEON Bank customers who activate their account will be entitled to 3,000 AEON points and 3x AEON points with transactions using the AEON Bank x Visa Debit Card-i on top of a 3.88% profit rate per annum. Customers who activate their account will immediately be able to access their virtual AEON Bank x Visa Debit Card and request for a physical Debit Card-i.

Customers who are also part of the AEON Points programme will have their membership automatically tied to the AEON Bank app to enjoy extra benefits and rewards when making payments to AEON Group outlets and merchants. These points can then be converted to cash which will be credited to the customer’s AEON Bank account.

From now until 2 June 2024, AEON Bank will offer special performances, fun activities, giveaways, promotions and more at the AEON Mall Shah Alam Concourse area and will then expand nationwide via roadshows over the following weeks until November 2024.
