Dell Technologies’ revamped Concept Nyx gaming controller at CES 2023 aims to take gaming to new heights

Last year, Dell Technologies debuted Concept Nyx, a conceptual gaming design that lets you play games on any display in your home off a game server. For CES 2023, they’ve refined the concept further with a wireless controller capable of tackling gaming with deft aplomb while being customisable to boot.

What is Concept Nyx?

The Concept Nyx game controller looks similar to a conventional PlayStation controller with a touch pad in the corner where a direction pad usually is located along with a pair of thumb sticks at the base complemented by the customary shoulder triggers and controllers. What makes it somewhat different from a stock controller though is its liberal amount of RGB lighting along with the signature Alienware logo that also doubles as a fingerprint reader.

Basically, the idea behind the Concept Nyx controller is that you can use it for personalised gaming with your own bespoke set of games and settings.

On paper, it interacts with other devices and screens by pairing up with other devices or via voice commands to start gaming on other devices around the house with content streamed off the main Concept Nyx home server. The interesting part here is that personalised settings travel with the controller itself so you can hop into a game and get all your preferred macros to get stuck in immediately.

Another conceptual feature behind Concept Nyx allows multiple users to share a display with top and bottom halves separated for individual games or different tasks like watching movies on one half and gaming on the other. It’s all early days for now and the design likely won’t see production anytime soon or appear anywhere beyond CES 2023 but it’s nonetheless an interesting look at the future.
