Latest Dell PowerStore Prime upgrades enhance performance, multicloud capabilities and more
Dell Technologies revealed their latest Dell PowerStore upgrades with the key takeaway being the upgrade of their PowerStore software to PowerStore Prime aka PowerStore 4.0 that enhances performance, efficiency, resilience and multicloud capabilities for customers. Another key highlight is an expanded Dell APEX Navigator SaaS that now includes Kubernetes storage management as well as upgrades to Dell APEX AIOps to offer better observability and incident management.
Dell PowerStore Prime updates
Available as a non-disruptive software retrofit for existing Dell PowerStore customers, the updated PowerStore Prime enables support for quad-level cell (QLC) storage, allowing for significantly enhanced efficiency with the ability to run workloads at a lower cost per terabyte as well as improved data reduction capabilities. PowerStore Prime also integrates intelligent load balancing capabilities while enhancing hardware performance up to 66% with new data-in-place higher model appliance upgrades.
The Dell PowerStore Prime upgrade also offers improved data protection especially for mission-critical workloads with native synchronous replication for block and file workloads as well as native metro replication for Windows, Linux and VMware environments, up to 20% better data reduction and a quoted 28% improved power efficiency.
The update also enables customers to connect PowerStore to Dell APEX Block Storage to optimise workload mobility and seamlessly scale multicloud deployments.
Improved Dell AIOps and Dell APEX Navigator SaaS support for Kubernetes storage
Dell Technologies’ also announced expanded Dell AIOps tools and functionality with the provision of a new generative AI-powered Dell APEX AIOps Assistant capable of answering infrastructure health, cybersecurity and sustainability insights while also offering actionable solutions. The new updates also ensure AI-driven full stack observability and incident management and also help to reduce infrastructure and customer-reported vendor issues.
Another highlight are enhancements to Dell APEX Navigator SaaS that now offers Kubernetes storage management on Dell PowerFlex storage solutions including data replication, application mobility and observability to containers with slated deployments to Dell PowerScal and Dell APEX Cloud Platform for Red Hat OpenShift in the near future.
In terms of availability, Dell Technologies has announced that their Dell PowerStore software update is now available today in Malaysia with support for QLC model and data-in-place higher-model appliance upgrades for Gen 2 customers as well as multicloud data mobility in the near future.
The expanded Dell AIOps tools for infrastructure observability and incident management are now available for all customers with application observability available later in October 2024. For Dell APEX Navigator for Kubernetes, customers in the United States can enjoy the feature first with additional regions slated for the later half of 2024.
