Far Cry 6 to feature GIancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad and arriving Feb 18 2021

The Far Cry series have always been milestones for gaming and the latest successor to the franchise, dubbed as Far Cry 6 certainly sets new records as it features one of the most famous faces on the planet as the titular bad guy – Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad fame.

The Far Cry series is a sandbox game of sorts with you usually thrown into a picturesque if incredibly hostile environment in an effort to liberate it from one despot or another. Far Cry 6 continues this tradition as you play a guerilla named Dani Rojas out to liberate the tropical country of Yara from one Anton Castillo who is effectively the titular leader of the entire country and channelling Gus Fring with every move he makes.

At the Ubisoft Forward launch, developers featured a series of trailers and announced a February 18, 2021 release date on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Playstation 4 and 5, the Epic Games store and the Ubisoft store for PC. 

Befitting prior Far Cry games, you’re given free rein to accomplish your mission by stealth or by going in guns blazing and if we’re on the money, that involves a series of both scripted and free-form missions to liberate outposts across Yara. There’s precious little confirmation about the weapons and vehicles you can get in the game so far save for the existence of the ‘Tostador’ flame thrower, and a rather bizarre wiener dog on wheels called Chorizo.

In-game stills provided to the press reveal a molotov cocktail weapon, a variety of circa-60’s cars, what looks like a vintage T55 Soviet main battle tank in use and what seems to be an AR15 style weapon with a ton of attachments added to it. Based on one still, it looks like you can use horses as rides.

What is certain is that preorder packages have been announced with those who commit getting the Libertad Pack getting a ‘Libertad outfit’ for Chorizo the dog and a ‘Discos Locos’ disc launcher. 

Far Cry 6 Preorders

In terms of preorder packages, you can get the basic Gold edition which will bundle the main game and a season pass, the Ultimate Edition which adds everything in the Gold edition along with the Ultimate Pack. At the top of the heap is the Collector’s Edition which has everything in the Ultimate edition, a replica of the ‘Tostador’ flamethrower, a Steelbook, a 64-page artbook, stickers, a Chorizo key ring, a map and a selected soundtrack for the game.
