Fitbit’s Alta HR fitness tracker packs a heart rate monitor and more for RM730
If you’re on the hunt for a fitness wearable that doesn’t look like a chunky, squarish conglomeration of plastic and metal you’ll appreciate what FitBit’s Alta HR has to offer. Belying its slim design, the Alta HR, as you’d surmise from its suffix, has a PurePulse optical heart rate tracker from Texas Instruments akin to their Charge 2, Surge and Blaze wearables that constantly tracks your current and resting heart rate so you can get an overall picture of your heart rate over time. The impressive feat here is that they’ve managed to cram the heart rate tracker into a design that’s barely a fingers-width wide that is also water resistant.
On top of tracking your heart rate, the Alta HR also monitors all the other usual essentials for fitness trackers including steps taken, calories burned, minutes spent active and it’s even smart enough to track other activities outside of the usual walking and running including biking, elliptical and even aerobic workouts. The Alta HR also tracks your sleep patterns in exceptional detail over time so you get to find out how much time you’ve knocked off in a sleep cycle in a light, deep and REM sleep and gives you guidance in terms of wake-up and bedtime so you can help improve the quality of your sleep.
This rich cornucopia of data is all crammed onto the rectangular OLED display on top of all telling you the time as well as other notifications from a paired smartphone. A single full charge lasts seven days so you’re able to constantly wear it through the course of a week. The Fitbit Alta HR is now available in your choice of four different shades – black, blue grey, fuchsia and coral classic for RM730.
If that doesn’t appeal, you can swap out the bracelets for something posher like a silver-hued stainless steel bracelet at RM450 or a gold coloured one at RM550. You can also opt for their Luxe Leather straps that come with matching buckles in brown, indigo and lavender for RM300 per strap. The Alta HR is now available at all official retailers as well as Harvey Norman and 11street.
