Gaze upon Acer’s massive Predator 21 X curved laptop that costs RM40,473
If you’re gazing at the price tag of Acer’s latest gaming laptop at CES 2017, you can be forgiven if what you saw was a typo but it isn’t. The Acer Predator 21 X gaming laptop ticks off a series of firsts, including the distinction of costing a whopping US$8999 which works out to RM40,473 which is a cost of an entry level subcompact car or a year’s pay for a desk jockey.
For your money, the Acer Predator 21 X is has a curved 21-inch 2,560 x 1080 pixel display with a 120Hz refresh rate along with NVIDIA G-Sync tech as well as Tobii eye tracking tech for a growing list of games. Again, the Predator 21 X pips competitors to the finishing line as it’s the world’s first laptop with a curved screen on the planet.
Paired with this is a dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPU array in SLI and an Intel Core i7-7820HK Kaby Lake processor paired with 64GB RAM and up to four 512GB SSD in RAID 0 configuration along with a 1TB hard drive. Added to this are two tweeters and two midrange speakers along with two subwoofers to produce an impressive sound stage. All this hardware is going to generate a lot of heat but the Predator 21 X comes with five system fans and nine heat pipes to keep things cool.
The backlit keyboard itself has Cherry MX Brown switches and has individually programmable colours on every key while the numeric keypad can be turned into a precision touchpad. All this hardware means this thing will likely give your biceps quite a workout: this behemoth weighs 8.8kg.
If you’re the first 300 who invest in one of these gaming behemoths, you’ll get a limited edition series number engraved on the panel. The Predator 21 X should hit stores in the US in February at the aforementioned prices. No word on when or if it will arrive in Malaysia but we’ll let you know.
