The Huawei MateBook 13 has an exciting feature that works with the P30 series phones
Huawei is looking to create an ecosystem with their products and the new MateBook 13 notebook that has just launched in Malaysia acts as a cornerstone of that plan with the ability to work in a unique fashion with their phones to transfer large amounts of data between either device in seconds via their OneHop feature.
Assuming a Huawei phone has EMUI 9.0 and NFC support much like the newly launched P30 and P30 Pro, you can tap it on a corner of the MateBook 13, specifically the lower right one with the OneHop sticker emblazoned on it to swiftly pair either device up to transfer images, movies and the like in seconds. That solves a major pain point when it comes to smartphone users who also use notebooks.
For Malaysia, the MateBook 13 will come with a 13-inch, 2,160 x 1,440 pixel display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, either an 8th gen Intel Core i5-8265U or Core i7-8565U processor, 8GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of SSD storage with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 2GB GDDR5 graphics.
Charging the MateBook 13 is via a USB Type-C port though only one of the two mounted on it is capable of this feature though the other does have DisplayPort support to port your feed out to a larger display. Battery life is rated at about 9 hours of 1080P video playback.
All this is crammed into a rather slick looking chassis hewn from aluminium that weighs 1.28kg and which is just 14.9mm thin. As far as prices go, the MateBook 13 with an Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD retails for RM3,999 while the variant with an Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD retails for RM4,399. The notebook is available nationwide from 6 April 2019 at authorised dealers and Huawei Experience stores in Malaysia.
