Nokia’s latest Android phone bound for China-only release
Nokia back in the day was a name to be respected and it still is. Some of their phones are so tough that they are still seeing service in many parts of the world like the ancient and nigh indestructible Nokia 3210. They were also responsible for some amazing phones back in the day that trail blazed the way for smartphones today like the venerable N95 and the solid N900 that was cut down before its time. While it looked like they were out for the count, they’re back up and at it again as they’re launching a new Android phone: enter the Nokia 6.
HMD Global secured the Nokia brand licensing rights a while back and will release the Nokia 6 in China via JD.COM for CNY1,699 which translates to about MYR1096. According to the official spiel, the Nokia 6 is crafted from a single solid block of aluminium and then anodised in two separate processes, with each phone requiring ten hours of work before being judged complete. In terms of hardware, it comes with a 5.5-inch 1080P screen sheathed in 2.5D gorilla glass, runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and has 4GB RAM with 64GB of storage. Running on the phone is the latest Android Nougat. Other mod-cons include Dolby Atmos enhanced audio with dual amplifiers for better audio and a 16-MP rear camera with PDAF while the front has an 8-MP selfie camera. It should be arriving in China in early 2017 and there’s no word of a global release as yet. Still, one can dream.
