Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus Review – Titan Tough Phone Tested
On paper, Xiaomi has kitted the display out with tough Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone also has a reinforced mid-frame and motherboard along with a fiberglass back panel with 10x better impact resistance than its predecessor. Combined, this grants the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus an SGS Premium Performance Certification – 5 Stars rating for drop, crush and bend resistance. To wit, this also means that the phone is rated to survive a 2.5 metre drop to the ground.

The entire design is also more resistant to dust and water ingress with a quoted IP69K dust and water resistance rating which vouches that it can officially survive in up to 2-metres of fresh water for up to 30 minutes as well as high-pressure jets of water. Xiaomi has also improved their wet touch detection tech, allowing for the phone to automatically adjust touch sensitivity even when your fingers are wet or greasy.
We previously tested the Redmi Note 15 Pro which is built to the same standards as the Plus version with the same tough materials – Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the display and a similar reinforced chassis and fiberglass back. With the same build quality and materials, we tossed the non-Pro on hard tiles, immersed it in a water fountain and even doused it in flour without damage.
While we didn’t deliberately toss the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ around to the same level as the time we tested non-Pro model, our review sample held up well in a week of testing with nary a scratch even with a few accidental drops from waist height to concrete floors, getting soused by accident in a bowl of soup and afterwards getting rinsed off in tap water.

In a pre-launch briefing, we did manage to toss an example of the Pro Plus model to terrifying levels of testing including a full 2.5M drop, tossing the phone into a steamer, a Coke slushie machine and having the display used as a chopping board.

Our review sample held up well in a week of practical field testing with nary a scratch even with a few accidental drops from waist height to concrete floors, getting soused by accident in a bowl of soup and afterwards getting rinsed off in tap water.
Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus Review – Build and Design
In terms of build and design, our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus review sample bears aesthetic similarities to its predecessor the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus including its curved display with its rounded corners and edges.
The backplate of our test sample is done in a shade of what they refer to as Glacier Blue which works out to a light metallic blue finish that also resists fingerprints. The phone can also be acquired in a shade of Black or the aforementioned Mocha Brown finish with a faux leather backplate.
The finish feels rather slippery which means that you’ll need a firm grip unless you’re looking for an impromptu drop test. Following a similar layout as the older design, the cameras are placed in a squarish-looking raised housing in the upper quadrant of the phone. This symmetry also helps to ensure that the phone doesn’t encounter any wobble when placed on a table.

The left is otherwise unremarkable with the top featuring an IR blaster while the right featuring a power button and volume rocker. A look at the base of the phone revealed a USB-C port for charging alongside a nano SIM card tray and a grille for one of the two speakers on the phone.
Up front, you get a large 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display that has 2,772 x 1,280 pixels resolution, up to 3,200 nits peak brightness, up to a 120Hz refresh rate and which also supports 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The display also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for HDR content. That’s not all, the display also has a TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light (Hardware), Flicker Free and TÜV Rheinland Circadian Friendly certification rating, ensuring that it is eye-safe for extended periods of usage.

Just above the display is a small slit that houses an earpiece and which acts as the second speaker. Combined, both speakers form a stereo pair enhanced with Dolby Atmos. Xiaomi has also added a 400% volume boost to quadruple the volume. A small punchhole just below the slit houses a 32MP camera for selfies.
Interestingly, Xiaomi has added a speaker cleaning mode that uses sound to eject particles of dust from the speaker grilles. It’s a unique improvement that allows for a degree of self maintenance if users drop it in sand or encounter heavy dust build-up over time.

When held, the phone feels solid with an even heft to it though it does feel somewhat plasticky when held seeing as the backplate is made entirely of reinforced fiberglass.
In addition to the phone, the packaging also packs a USB-C cable, a 100W charger, a SIM ejector pin as well as a free casing to protect the phone. Seeing how durable Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is, the phone does not get a pre-installed screen protector.
Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus Review – Performance and Benchmarks
The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus comes rather well appointed in terms of hardware for a midrange phone with the recently released Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor that debuted late last year.
Intended as a higher-end midrange processor that sits somewhere below Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 series, the Snapdragon 7s Gen4 octacore processor replaces the prior 7s Gen 3 CPU and increases the main ARM Cortex A720 prime core up to 2.7GHz clock speed from the prior model’s 2.5GHz clock speed for an approximate 7% performance boost along with an improved Adreno 810 GPU.
In addition to the 2.7GHz ARM Cortex A720 prime core, the rest of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 packs a quartet of 2.4GHz ARM Cortex A720 performance cores and a trio of 1.8GHz ARM Cortex A520 efficiency cores for simple grunt work.
Paired with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is a 12GB LPDDR4X RAM along with 512GB UFS 2.2 storage. Running under the hood is the latest Android 15 with Xiaomi’s own HyperOS 2.0 that also has the ability to assign 6GB of virtual RAM off the onboard storage which can be increased to 12GB or disabled entirely. Other RAM/storage variants exist with less RAM or storage but our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus review sample is the highest end variant available. Here’s a summary of its specifications:
| Price | RM1,699 |
| Display | 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED, 1.5K (2,272 x 1,280 pixels), 120Hz refresh rate, 3,200 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3, 480Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 3840Hz PWM Dimming |
| Processor | Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 |
| OS | Android 15 w/ Xiaomi HyperOS |
| Memory | 12GB LPDDR4X RAM / 512GB UFS 2.2 (review unit) | 8/12GB RAM/256GB variants available |
| Cameras | 200MP f/1.7 w/ OIS + 8MP/f2.2 ultra wide camera [rear] / 32MP f/2.2 [front] |
| Battery | 6,500mAh w/ 100W HyperCharge fast charging, 22.5W reverse charging |
| Size/Weight | 163.34 x 78.31 x 8.19mm /207.1g |
The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus addresses one of the biggest shortcomings of midrange phones – software updates or lack thereof. Xiaomi has promised that the phone will get 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates, meaning that it will get updates all the way to Android 20 and stay secure until 2032.
As an added measure, Xiaomi has also added a 4 year battery warranty that entitles users to get a free new battery replacement if battery health drops below 80% within the four year duration from the date of purchase.
Of note is that the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus has access to Google Gemini AI assistant and also has a number of AI features including the now popular AI Writing mode to generate short snippets of text, an AI Creativity Assistant that lets you upscale and sharpen blur shots, erase photo bombers and expand the borders of an image. You also get AI Translate Conversation to translate offline and face-to-face conversations and an AI Interpreter for calls and conferences.
When subjected to synthetic benchmarks, our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus review sample scored the following:
| 3D Mark Steel Nomad Light | 402 |
| 3D Mark Steel Nomad Light Unlimited | 386 |
| 3D Mark Solar Bay | N/A |
| 3D Mark Solar Bay Unlimited | N/A |
| 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme | 1,062 |
| 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited | 784 |
| Geekbench 6 Single Core | 1,243 |
| Geekbench 6 Multi Core | 3,260 |
| Geekbench 6 OpenCL | 3,544 |
| Geekbench 6 Vulkan | 4,743 |
| Geekbench 6 AI (CPU) | 1,923 |
| Geekbench 6 AI (GPU) | N/A |
| PCMark Work 3.0 | 14,005 |
| PCMark Battery Life | 20 hours 2 mins |
At a glance, the benchmarks are within parameters expected of a midrange chipset though it wasn’t able to undertake more demanding benchmarks like 3D Mark’s Solar Bay as it wasn’t able to run some aspects of the Vulkan API.
When subjected to practical field tests, our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus review sample was more than capable of handling everything including gaming on default settings without issue. The capable chipset and generous 12GB of physical RAM along with the default 6GB of virtual RAM lend the phone smooth performance when multitasking, editing videos on CapCut and even running through the wilds of Genshin Impact on default settings with little noticeable lag.
Even under heavy stress tests like the Steel Nomad Light Stress test, the phone didn’t deviate all too much in terms of performance and temperatures didn’t radically run too far from each reading in the stress test. Belying its benchmarks, the phone proved to be rather capable and most users will enjoy a smooth user experience for day to day use.
While Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 is a generally pleasant and smooth experience, it’s still chock full of bloatware and a fresh install of the phone yields a random smorgasbord of preinstalled apps including a Booking.com shortcut, Amazon, WPS office, Linked in, Shopee and Agoda just to name a few.
The phone also tends to throw in a host of unnecessary notifications and pop-ups on the lock screen that include suggestions like additional themes and apps that simply add to the clutter. Fortunately, these apps can be uninstalled and these random notifications can be turned off but it should have been completely optional in the first place rather than making it an opt-out feature.
Our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus review sample’s AMOLED display proved to be bright and vibrant with good colour rendition, pin-sharp text and good detail with enough brightness for outdoors usage for movies, gaming and day to day usage.

The paired stereo speakers proved to be surprisingly loud and at 400% is enough to be heard within ten paces without distortion. It does its best work at about 80-100% where you get decent detail and a modicum of bass. This lends the phone exceptional utility for gaming and movie watching duties on the go.
In terms of battery life, the large 6,500mAh battery offered superb endurance, allowing for a good two days of usage with normal usage including web browsing, a few minutes of phone calls, a few episodes of the Mandalorian on the train and Spotify along with liberal texting and a few minutes of camera usage. Charging it is fortunately a nippy affair with the provided 100W charger taking about 55 minutes to juice it from dead zero.
Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus Review – Cameras
On the imaging front, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ comes with a dual camera setup built around a 200MP f/1.7 main camera which has optical image stabilisation and PDAF paired with an 8MP f/2.2 ultra wide angle camera. This is somewhat similar to its predecessor the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ though the new model has an improved front-facing 32MP f/2.2 camera for selfies and mugshots.

With this setup, the rear camera is capable of up to 30x digital zoom and also a modest 4K@30fps video capture while the front-facing selfie camera is able to capture up to 1080p@60fps video.

In daylight conditions, our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus review unit yielded good results from the main camera from 1 X out to 4X crop from the main sensor with good dynamic range and detail. Beyond that, details start getting softer though it’s still viable for social media. Low light shots got similarly good results out to 4x.
To its credit, shots from the ultrawide angle camera offer consistent colour rendition with the main camera though details are understandably soft due to the 8MP sensor though it is otherwise viable enough for scenery shots.Videos at 4K@30fps are good for a midrange phone with the large sensor and OIS ensuring steady footage.
For selfies, the front 32MP camera offers good skin tones and detail for selfies and wefies in daylight and low light conditions with the display turning white as a fill light.
Overall , the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus offers a capable camera system that is ideal for casual users and content creators who primarily focus on still photography rather than video capture.
Should you buy the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus?
The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus is a unique midrange phone with a large display, a decent rear camera with OIS and exceptional battery life. The provision of 4 years of OS and 6 years of security updates along with the inclusion of a free charger and casing with the phone add significantly to its value proposition.
What seals the deal is its exceptional durability and IP69K dust and water resistance, which adds to its survivability against everyday mishaps that would result in costly repairs. If you’re looking for an otherwise solid mid-range phone, this is a sound choice.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus is the flagship of Xiaomi’s midrange Redmi Note 15 series and is at the top of the proverbial totem pole above the more affordable Redmi Note 15 Pro and Redmi Note 15 in capabilities and features especially in camera performance, durability and battery life.

Courtesy of Xiaomi Malaysia, we got our hands on a sample for field testing. After putting it through its paces over the Chinese New Year holidays, here’s our take on whether the top-tier Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus is worth the premium.
Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus Review – Tougher Titan Durability
Table of Contents
Intended as the successor to the prior Redmi Note 14 Pro+ launched last year, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ straddles the line between a midrange and a flagship phone, integrating a number of desirable features typically seen in more premium devices.
Compared to its predecessor the older Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus, our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus review sample is slightly heavier by 2g, slightly thinner by 0.3mm, has a slightly larger display, features significantly improved battery capacity and has a better front camera along with the obligatory chipset update.
One interesting fact to note is that specific variants of the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ are slightly thicker and heavier – specifically the Mocha Brown variant which has a faux leather backplate though not by much.
Aesthetics aside, the new 2026 model notably stands out on account of its improved durability and resistance to shocks and drops as well as water immersion thanks to an IP69K dust and water certification rating.
On paper, Xiaomi has kitted the display out with tough Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone also has a reinforced mid-frame and motherboard along with a fiberglass back panel with 10x better impact resistance than its predecessor.
