Samsung debuts their HW-K950 home theatre speakers at KL International AV Show 2016

Hot off the heels of their recent SUHD TV KS9000 series TV launch at KLCC, Samsung has added another offering to their home AV series line-up at the Kuala Lumpur International AV Show at the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

The HW-K950 soundbar is a home theatre series soundbar that comes with a pair of satellite speakers and a subwoofer, both of which are wireless to render up 5.1.4 series sound. The whole affair is Dolby compliant with Dolby Atmos audio support for both the soundbar and the two satellite speakers. While the HW-K950 will be rolling out to Samsung retailers and concept stores later on in the coming weeks, you can get a firsthand taste of it at the KLI AV show and, if you’re inclined, be one of the first to get your hands on it for RM5,999. After the aV show is over, the HW-K950 will be available for sale at selected Samsung Experience stores and authorised dealerships such as Best Denki, Harvey Norman, Tan Boon Ming and Senheng near the end of August.

Samsung also showcased their first Ultra HD Blu-ray player designated as the UBD-K8500 that is able to offer four times the resolution and 64 times the colour expression of conventional Blu-ray players. There’s a dearth of UHD content but it’s growing though you’ll likely have to source it via Amazon. Still, even if you lack UHD content, the UBD-K8500 is able to upscale conventional Blu-rays, DVDs and plain old CD footage to near SUHD quality. The UBD-K8500 is slated to hit the Malaysia market sometime within the next two months and is slated to retail at somewhere at or near US$700 when it arrives in stores.
