Massive Sony SRS XV500 party speaker brings the boom this April

On top of making excellent headphones, Sony is also a dab hand at speakers too and they’re bringing a new design specifically intended for large social outings.

The new Sony SRS XV500 party speaker quite literally brings the boom to the party. Slated for arrival this April 2024, the speaker has a slew of unusual features to make it the centrepiece of any party including the option to turn it into the centrepiece of a karaoke session.

The Sony SRS XV500 stands to about hip height with a sturdy man-portable IPX4 casing that survives the odd splash or two. Crammed into the chassis are a pair of huge X-Balanced speaker drivers for hefty bass and a pair of tweeters too. Battery life is officially rated for 25 hours and a 10-minute charge lets you use it for a good 2.5 hours of playback time. 

Where the Sony SRS XV500 party speaker shines is that it has a special karaoke mode by simply plugging in a karaoke mic and pressing play. You get an Echo and Key Control button on the rear and you can even plug in a second mic for a duet. There’s no official word yet on how much it costs but it will be arriving in Malaysia this month.
