The swanky Asus ZenBook Pro 15 brings a Full HD Screen Pad touchpad into play
The idea of plonking in a secondary touchscreen isn’t a new one but Asus’ new ZenBook Pro 15 is so far the most polished implementation yet with a crisp 5.5-inch 1080P touchscreen display at the base that they’ve dubbed as a ScreenPad.
The Screen Pad offers a host of productivity related benefits and can be used to run a host of tools without taking up valuable screen real estate. More creative users can swap the touchpad out to play a music player or act as a secondary numeric keypad. You can also integrate a growing number of selected browser Chrome extensions into the touchpad, allowing it to control YouTube playback or interact with selected desktop apps like Microsoft Home, Excel and PowerPoint.
The rest of the hardware on offer is up to snuff as Asus has crammed in some of their best hardware into its 18.9mm machine metal casing. In terms of specifications, the ZenBook Pro 15 comes in three configurations. The highest tier variant, dubbed the UX580G-EE2084T has a luscious 15.6-inch LED backlit IPS 4K UHD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, your choice of either an Intel Core i9-8950HQ hexacore processor, 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM, a GTX1050Ti graphics card and a 1TB PCIE SSD. This variant retails for a princely RM10,999.
Slightly lower down the totem pole is the UX580G-EE2030T variant which has similar hardware as the highest end variant but which downgrades the processor to an Intel Core i7-8750H processor for RM8,899. The most affordably prices version further downswaps the the RAM to 8GB and storage to a 512GB PCIE SSD for RM5,999.
In common with all variants is 802.11ac gigabit-class Wi-Fi, a pair of USB 3.1 gen 2 Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support, two USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports and a HDMI port.
