Takara Tomy’s teaser site hints at gritty, realistic new Zoids spinoff

You’ll likely remember Zoids, Tomy’s toy franchise that had a series of wind-up and battery powered toys that came in an array of fantastical animal forms, all of whom are armed to the teeth with guns festooning every possible surface and piloted with a little silver or gold Android figure plunked in the diminutive cockpit. Over the years, the toys became more elaborate and there were even a few spin off anime shows.

Now, Tomy’s just opened up a teaser site for a new Zoids project of some sort. The image shows a soldier in body armour and a sidearm kneeling next to a Shield Liger zoid done up in a gritty Front Mission aesthetic style. The only other thing known so far is that the project is known as Zoids: Field of Rebellion based on a prior logo though they’ve taken it off the site for now. As to whether it’s a new spin-off, a new series of toys or a game remains to be seen.
