Samsung’s The Frame TV is a work of art that can be yours for RM9999
As much a 4K television as it is a work of art, Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ TV is nigh indistinguishable from a picture frame at first glance. The usual tell-tale signs of a telly: the stand, the chunky frame and buttonry prevalent on a TV are missing, it’s a seamless 4K panel that is almost indistinguishable via casual inspection unless you switch the channel or any of the myriad art works it is designed to display changes onscreen.
The mimicry of the Frame to a static picture frame is deliberate. Dubbed as a lifestyle TV, The Frame was crafted to be a seamless, harmonious addition to the interior decor of any homeowner. The panel itself is nigh flat like a picture frame and it also sports a series of customisable frames hewn from a variety of faux finishes that latch on magnetically to the bezels make the whole affair look like a picture frame hewn from white, walnut or beige wood.
Down to the brass tacks, The Frame is a 4K LED backlit LCD panel that runs their Tizen Smart TV operating system under the hood and has everything you’d expect of a smart TV from the marque with the ability to stream content off a number of paired up devices.
Like other Samsung TVs of recent vintage such as their QLED TVs, The Frame plonks all of the necessary connectors to a box that packs all the necessary ports linked up via a transparent fibre optic cable to the TV to ensure that it remains svelte. Even from the sides, The Frame TV is essentially flat bar the essential mountings for a ‘no gap’ wall mount to attach it in a near flush position to the wall.
Where it differs is that the The Frame TV has been optimised to display painted art works on the display when powered off. It notably has an ‘Art Mode’ feature that displays a host of 100 art works by 37 world renowned designers onscreen like a private art gallery in your home. A built-in brightness sensor helps to ensure that whatever you view onscreen is properly illuminated based on ambient lighting conditions so that it mimics a picture frame on the wall. If you’re looking to expand your art collection and view even more art on The Frame, you can opt for an online Art Store subscription that clocks in at RM21.99 a month that unlocks access to even more art work for you to view.
If The Frame floats your boat, it will be available for sale in Malaysia on 15 August 2017 with the 65-inch model retailing for MR14,999 and the 55-inch model for RM9,999. For more details swing by Samsung’s official site at www.samsung.com/my/tvs/frametv/.
