OPPO A93 debuts in Malaysia for RM1,299 with preorder freebies

OPPO has debuted their latest midrange phone dubbed the OPPO A93 in Malaysia at a price point of RM1,299 with a preorder programme and your choice of two colourways to accessorise your wardrobe.

The OPPO A93 is a successor to the earlier A92 that was release in the first half of 2020, which is quaint seeing as it’s barely a year before they’re issuing a product refresh.

In terms of hardware, you’re getting a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution ( 1080 x 2,400 pixels) and a 20:9 aspect ratio as well as a lozenge shaped cutout for a dual selfie camera (16MP + 2MP).

Under the hood, the OPPO A93 integrates a Mediatek Helio P95 octacore processor running Android 10 and their latest ColorOS 7.2 firmware, 8GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. Of note here is that the phone has a triple card slot – you get to bung in two nano SIM cards along with a microSD card all at the same time. 

The rear comes with a quad camera array built around a primary 48MP F/1.7 shooter with PDAF, a secondary 8MP ultrawide angle camera as well as a pair of 2MP mono cameras for bokeh and depth data. 

According to OPPO, both the rear quad camera and front dual camera arrays all take advantage of AI to offer optimised shots and a host of modes like their AI Portrait Colour which desaturates the background while keeping the subject in full colour.

There is also an AI Super Night Portrait mode that’s self explanatory and an artful AI Night Flare Portrait. Keeping the whole phone powered is a 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging tech. There is also an Ultra Clear 108MP mode that’s only viable under daylight conditions but which can take massive, detailed shots.

You can preorder the OPPO A93 from 6th to 9th October in your choice of either Matte Black or Metallic White with a free umbrella and Bluetooth speaker worth RM199 thrown in as freebies with your bundle.
