Acer Aspire Vero laptop looks like the green future of computing
At the recent virtual next@Acer 2021 event, the brand unveiled their RE100 Initiative and took the wraps off a unique offering – a sustainability-focused notebook dubbed the Acer Aspire Vero.
The Acer Aspire Vero attempts to fit all the credentials to be eco friendly from the ground up. For starters, it ships in a box made of at least 80% recycled paper pulp with text printed in soy ink while the adapter protectors in the packaging are made with paper sleeves instead of plastic.
But wait, it gets better as the keycaps are made of 50% PCR plastic and the chassis cover is made of 30% PCR. Just to remind users of its eco-friendly credentials, Acer has also inverted the R and E key symbols to remind people to ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’.
This emphasis on sustainability even extends to how the Aspire Vero is serviced, maintained and upgraded. The chassis is held with standardised screws for easy maintenance and features some surprisingly beefy hardware.
Acer Aspire Vero Specifications
You get a 15.6-inch Full HD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 250 nits max brightness, 11th Gen Intel Core processor paired up with Iris Xe graphics, up to 1TB M.2 SSD for storage, Intel WiFi 6 (Gig+) connectivity, a USB Type-C port, a pair of USB 3.2 ports and an HDMI 2.0 port for piping a feed out to a video.
Acer Aspire Vero Price
There’s no word on availability or a launch date for the Acer Aspire Vero or if it will even arrive in Malaysia but it’ll be an interesting sight if this kind of eco-friendly concept laptop takes off. It’s also somewhat unclear at this point in time if this is an entirely separate sub-product variant of the Aspire line or if this initiative will roll over into other Aspire models further on down the line.
