Time to score the ultimate heist with MTG Outlaws of Thunder Junction set

Magic the Gathering is certainly in an interesting place now with collaborations with popular franchises like Warhammer 40,000 and Fallout resulting in special sets but their latest expansion Outlaws of Thunder Junction takes an interesting twist with their own new world in the multiverse and new mechanics.

Where their last expansion was a whodunit writ large, the new set has a unique theme. Imagine the wild west meets high fantasy meets Magic the Gathering and you get the gist of the set as it takes place in a lawless dimension you can explore.

Beyond the unique wild west theme, Outlaws of Thunder Junction features a new set of creature types that are a veritable rogues gallery called Outlaw, a new Plot mechanic where you can exile a card face-up for its special plot-cost to deploy it later without paying its mana cost, Spree to trigger additional effects in a card for an extra cost and a Mount that characters can ride for a cost for extra perks.

The expansion also adds a new Crime mechanic where targeting an opponent or their hand, permanents, spells, library or graveyard are classified as crimes which trigger additional effects.

The new set will also feature 30 different mythic rares that come in unique Vault Frame and Raised Foil variants, 10 special Guest cards in foil and non-foil variants as well as Full-Art basic lands that evoke the wild west theme of the set.

In Malaysia, prerelease experiences for Outlaws of Thunder Junction will appear from 12 – 18 April and will be released on 19 April. There will also be a treasure hunt from 12 April onwards for Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand players to win prizes.
