New MSI Pro MP252 E2 and MP271AP E2 monitors for business debut at Computex 2024
Alongside a slew of new QD-OLED monitors, MSI has showcased two new monitors that are intended for both personal and enterprise deployments from their Pro series dubbed the MSI Pro MP252 E2 and the Pro MP271AP E2 monitors.
Savvy readers will likely notice that these model numbers and designs are akin to the MSI Pro MP252 and MSI Pro MP271AP that’s currently available in the market though the E2 suffix indicates that this year’s new models have upgraded refresh rates to 120Hz which is up from the prior model’s 100Hz refresh rate.
MSI Pro MP252 E2 and MP272AP E2 specs and price
The MSI Pro MP252 E2 monitor features a 24.5-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1080 pixels) IPS LCD display with a matte finish, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 4ms (GtG) response time.
It also features a 1,300:1 contrast ratio, along with a 100.15% sRGB colour gamut and 300 nits peak brightness which is more than sufficient for general use for poring through spreadsheets, general duties and the like. It also has a pair of 2W speakers (4W total) for a modicum of sound.
In terms of I/O, you get a single HDMI 2.0b port, a DisplayPort 1.4a and a headphone jack. Of note with the design is the inclusion of a groove in the pedestal that’s wide and deep enough to slot in a phone landscape-style along with the ability to be rotated to a vertical orientation which is ideal for programmers. If space is short, it even has a rear VESA mount for mounting it to a wall.
The larger MSI Pro MP271AP E2 monitor has mostly identical specifications to the smaller MSI Pro MP252 E2 albeit with a larger 27-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1080 pixels) display with the enhanced 120Hz refresh rate and an improved 108% sRGB colour gamut along with the inclusion of a 1080p webcam on the top bezel with a built-in mic for video calls.
Webcam and large display aside, the bigger model retains a similar pair of 2W speakers, has a similar pedestal mount with a groove for parking phones in the base and has a similar ability to rotate to a vertical orientation. The larger MSI MP271AP E2 also has the same array of ports as the smaller MP252 E2 model but adds on an additional VGA port.
Both new MSI Pro series monitors also support the brand’s new MSI Power Link feature which enables users to mount a mini-PC to the back of the pedestal via a dedicated mounting port and turn it on or off straight from the display via a HDMI connection, essentially upgunning the whole affair into an all-in-one PC.
According to MSI, the Pro MP252 E2 will have a general release date of mid-July with a retail price of US$119.99 while the larger MSI Pro MP271AP E2 is priced at US$169.99 though with an as-yet unannounced launch date. Stay tuned for more updates as we wander the halls of Computex 2024!
