MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo, Claw 8 AI Plus and more launched at Computex 2024
At Computex 2024, a host of MSI AI-ready PCs, GPU servers and more made their official debut. Alongside a host of new displays, desktops, components and gaming laptops, a refreshed version of their popular Claw gaming handheld dubbed the Claw 8 AI Plus and more.
While the MSI Stealth 18 Mercedes Motorsport AMG Gaming laptop took the limelight, the MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo took the gold with a COMPUTEX Best Choice Golden Award in the computer and system category. Belying its modest 1.5kg weight, it has an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and 99.9WHr battery with PD 3.1 140W charging in a magnesium alloy chassis.
In addition to new gear, MSI AI ARTIST, an offline text-to-image tool that will be deployed in MSI’s highest end laptops will offer localised image generation for image-to-image, image-to-text and layered PSD file exports for Photoshop editing.
Displayed under glass at the MSI booth at Computex 2024 was the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus which has a different design from the base MSI Claw and a two-toned grey-and-black paint job with RGB-backlit thumb sticks flanking the main 8-inch FHD 120Hz display which has 100%sRGB and 500 nits brightness.
Powering the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus is the latest ’Intel Core Ultra ‘Lunar Lake’ processors’ and the partial spec sheet displayed alongside it mentions improved Cooler Boost HyperFlow cooling with two fans and heat pipes along with an ‘intraflow thermal design’. According to what Digital Trends has to say, this gaming handheld will debut in September 2024.
Also present alongside the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus was a variant of the current MSI Claw dubbed the Fallout Edition which has an external shell themed to match the popular show.
Also present on the showroom floor at the MSI booth was their MEG Vision X AI desktop which we’ve covered in a dedicated feature here as well as their Modern AM273Q AI all-in-one PC that uses PCR-recycled plastics, has a power meter to optimise energy usage and an Intel AI Boost NPU.
More mundane in nature but of equal importance, MSI also revealed the Spatium M650 PCIe 5.0 NVM.2 SSD which has a 7nm DRAM-less PHISON E31T controller and the world’s first non-metal vapour chamber thermal solution for SSDs. For more details check out MSI’s official page at https://www.msi.com
