ASUS ROG Phone 2 Strix Edition coming to Malaysia at RM2,499
The Asus ROG Phone 2 is one of the best gaming phones available in the market, no surprise seeing as it has been built from the ground up to be a mobile gaming phone with almost every desirable feature possible for a gamer crammed into one premium chassis. Now, Asus has made a more affordable variant that they’ve dubbed as the Asus ROG Phone 2 Strix edition that pares down a few non-essentials at a more agreeable RM2,499 price tag.
Unlike the top of the line Asus ROG Phone 2 Ultimate Edition that debuted late last year, the Strix edition pares down the RAM and storage down to more modest sizes with 8GB DDR4 RAM and non-expandable 128GB UFS 3.0 storage as it lacks a microSD card slot.
That aside, it retains the fearsomely powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, the slick and vibrant 6.59-inch AMOLED 120Hz display and the huge 6,000mAh battery that made its pricier sibling famous. At this price tag, you’ll be wiping the floor with the competition in Call of Duty Mobile or PUBG without undue trouble.
For Malaysia, they’re bundling in a 3-pin UK-style 30W charger, the obligatory rear-mounted Aero Active Cooler 2 rear mount and the Aero Case in for good measure. If this floats your boat, it’ll the Asus ROG Phone 2 Strix Edition will be available sometime in mid-January.
According to Asus Malaysia, they’re also hinting at a special Chinese New Year promotion for the ROG Phone II Strix Edition so stay tuned for updates.
