Epson celebrates 50th anniversary with walk down memory lane
Epson marked its 50th anniversary this month with a walk down memory lane as they shared the milestones, especially their products which contributed to their success over the years.
The first product that put them on the map was the EP-101 digital electronic printer in 1968. Expanding their expertise in printing products, Epson pioneered high-quality printing in homes using their Micro Piezo printing tech in their popular MJ-500 and MJ-700V2C printers.
From there, Epson expanded their horizons with the Monna Lisa 160B digital textile printing machine in 2003 and the SurePress series of digital label presses. In 2010, Epson introduced high-capacity ink tank printers as an alternative to laser printers.
Beyond their expertise in printers, Epson spread their wings into other endeavours, creating HTPS panels for deployment in projectors which gained an ardent following among aficionados with their VPJ-700, ELP-3000 and EB-L25000U projectors gaining cult following status. The EB-L25000U projector, for its time in 2015, stood in the limelight as the world’s brightest 3LCD laser projector. Over the years, Epson has also delved into other operations, especially with an eye towards global expansion such as watch case manufacturing in Singapore.
Today, Epson has become a globally recognised print for printers and projectors across the globe. They haven’t rested on their laurels though and they’ve taken equal efforts to protect the environment as well.
“Over the past decades, Epson has pursued innovation with purpose – creating efficient, compact and precise technologies that drive progress while reducing environmental impact. As we mark this milestone, we remain committed to advancing sustainable, energy-efficient solutions that empower industries and shape a better future,” said Morikawa Tomohito, Managing Director of Epson Malaysia.
