Feasts, fun and fables aplenty at MyCloudTable’s “An Afternoon Flirt”
Despite a rain-drenched Sunday afternoon, the Pickle & Fig Cafe in TTDI was full of enthusiastic participants for MyCloudTable’s experiential coffee art event who were bubbling with excitement. Dubbed ‘An Afternoon Flirt‘, the event was organised with MyCloudTable along with a host of valued partners including Coffex Coffee, Panasonic Lumix cameras, Panasonic Evolta batteries, Pickle & Fig Café along with other media partners like Hitech Century and FoodAdvisor.
The event started off with a short speech by Mr. Chong Kee Kiat, a representative from MyCloudTable who thanked the participants for braving the rain and the events that were about to take place.
First off, participants were given a quick walk-through by Pickle & Fig’s in-house chef Timothy Ryan who whipped up a batch for participants to enjoy while walking them through the recipe which involved a combination of 10 cloves of grated garlic, 30g capers, 60g grated parmesan cheese, about 6tbsp of Lea & Perrins sauce, the juice of half a squeezed lemon and the secret ingredient – 10 anchovies sliced finely – mixed with standard 1,200g mayonnaise until fine.
The taste was, as expected, divine with the creamy sweetness and richness of the Caesar salad sauce complementing the freshness of the lettuce and the crispness of the croutons nicely.
Afterwards, Mr. Victor Leong from Panasonic Lumix shared with participants about their latest camera, the Lumix GF8 and what it was capable of.
The GF8 comes with a 16-MP sensor with a Micro Four Thirds mount, a rear tilt-up touchscreen for selfies and comes in three colours along with a 12-35mm lens for RM2,099. Participants were then able to give the GF8 a test drive by taking a host of pictures at the event.
Afterwards, Ms. Hong Soo Chin, representing Coffex Coffee shared a coffee tasting session with participants as she shared the finer points of how coffee beans from different regions tasted like and how to discern the various flavours of coffee of different coffee beans grown in different regions.
Once the basics were covered, participants were then able to experience a hands-on session with Pickle & Fig Café‘s master barista Bee Aziz who showed everyone how to brew coffee from tamping the powder down to finally creating beautiful hearts and other forms of coffee art.
Once everyone had a hand at making their own coffee art, the participants parted ways with fond memories and new friendships made.
