Galaxy S25 series with One UI 7 gets new Galaxy AI features with Audio Eraser, Best Face and more
At Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025, Samsung unveiled their titular Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra which come with a measured array of upgrades that include the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and, more importantly, an array of Galaxy AI updates and features that further enhance the S25 to be a more capable daily companion.
Across the board, the Galaxy S25 series all run the latest One UI 7 firmware which confers a number of notable upgrades with a new Gen AI Sticker, Audio Eraser, Best Face and a special Now Brief and Now Bar feature, all of which leverage Galaxy AI with a mixture of on-device and cloud processing.
What’s new with One UI 7 and Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S25 series?
Rather than radical aesthetic redesigns or other frippery, Samsung has focused the majority of their efforts in improving the AI capabilities of the Galaxy S25 series with four notably new AI features.
Building on last year’s Circle to Search with Google, translation and note capturing as well as summarisation features that debuted last year on the Galaxy S24, Samsung has added a new Now Brief feature as part of their new One UI 7 interface that comes with the Galaxy S25 series.
The Now Brief feature appears as an expandable window on your Galaxy S25 series’ home screen that summarises your appointments from your calendar and your schedule, the weather report as well as an energy score that shows how ready you are to tackle the day in one handy summary.
The Now Brief icon pops up as a reminder in the morning and in the evening along with a silent midday update that isn’t pushed to the user, lending it functionality akin to a personal assistant.
The Galaxy S25 series and One UI 7 will also get a Now Bar that consists of an interactive popup on the lock screen that acts as a shortcut between active apps like an audio recorder or music player so users don’t have to unlock the phone to access running apps or features.
Productivity features aside, the new Galaxy AI updates also add in a notable game changer especially for content creators that they’ve dubbed as Audio Eraser that is able to intelligently delete either the music or the voices from a captured video which has a ton of practical uses especially for content creators.
Deleting music in a track ensures that any captured video doesn’t get copyright strikes when uploaded to YouTube or TikTok while deleting voices from a track can be of use especially in establishing shots and removing the sound of background passerby. Best of all, it relies on on-device processing adds a measure of privacy. This is in addition to the existing AI Eraser which can selectively remove objects from an image.
The novel new Best Face feature lets you clean up what would have been unusable photos where people are looking in the wrong direction, have the wrong expression or have their eyes closed with the power of AI. The feature is able to capture photos even before you pull the shutter release on the S25 series’ camera and then lets you select pre-captured faces of the subject to swap out in a photo to ensure that a shot looks more presentable. It’s an unusual but effective feature in our short time testing it.
While whimsical, the new Galaxy AI update lets you generate unique emoji via their AI Gen Sticker via text prompts though this feature requires in-cloud processing. In our short time testing this feature, it was able to generate rather amusing emoji such as a ‘cat in a hat’ though it’s smart enough to steer clear of copyrighted material.
Beyond this, One UI 7 and Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S25 retains all the existing features of Galaxy AI from the Galaxy S24 series including Live Translate, Chat Assist, Note Assist and Circle to Search with Google. Power users will also appreciate the fact that One UI 7 keeps Samsung DeX mode, enabling users to Miracast wirelessly to a monitor or TV or connect to it via HDMI to bring up a desktop-style interface while retaining the use of Android applications on the phone.
Astute readers and existing Samsung Galaxy series owners will likely ask if these features will trickle down to prior phones which is usually the case when Samsung pushes the One UI 7 update down to current devices like the Galaxy Z Fold6, Flip6 and Galaxy S24 series but if they’re following their usual playbook, this will likely be a few months down the line. We’ll keep you posted.
Samsung has also emphasised that every Galaxy S25 series will get 6 months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage at no extra cost. Like its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 series will have a guaranteed seven generations of OS updates and seven years of security updates for greater peace of mind.
