Good portents – HP’s OMEN range of gaming rigs are now in Malaysia
HP’s high-end range of OMEN by HP gaming hardware have just been announced for sale in Malaysia. Making their debut are the OMEN 15 and OMEN 17 gaming notebooks along with the OMEN gaming desktop.
The new HP notebooks and desktop all pack serious hardware along with a seriously fetching matte black finish complemented with neon red trim designed to evoke the aerodynamic lines and aesthetics of a high performance jet. The sleek looks aren’t just for show – the revamped OMEN range all have improved cooling both internally and externally over their predecessors for enhanced performance.
All three devices – the OMEN 15, the OMEN 17 and OMEN desktop are now available at all good retailers nationwide with the OMEN 15 retailing starting from RM4,499. The OMEN 17 has a price tag starting from RM8,899 while the OMEN Desktop retails at a price starting from RM5,999.

OMEN by HP 17 notebook
This hefty gaming rig weighs in at 3.7kg which ought to help improve your muscle tone when you haul this around. Crammed within its 33mm casing is a 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display enhanced with NVIDIA G-Sync tech.

Running the show is an Intel i7-7700HQ 2.8GHz, up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX1070 GPU with 8GB of dedicated GDDR5. Storage needs are sorted by 256GB PCie NVMe M.2 SSD and a 1TB hard disk.
The keyboard itself is fully backlit and it also sports a trio of USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports along with Thunderbolt support, a mini Display Port, a HDMI out and the notebook also packs Bang and Olufsen tuned dual speakers too.

Slightly smaller in size but with similar aesthetics in addition to the tricked out backlit keyboard, the OMEN by HP 15 notebook comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display sans NVIDIA G Sync tech, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ 2.8GHz processor identical to its larger sibling the OMEN by HP 17, your choice of either an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and up to 16GB DDR4 RAM.
Storage options consist of your choice of either a 1TB hard disk or a 1TB hard disk paired with a 256GB PCie NVMe M.2 SSD. In terms of ports, the notebook is similar to its larger OMEN 17 notebook sibling but is fortunately lighter at 2.568kg and slimmer at 24.8mm thin.
OMEN by HP desktop
Designed for easy maintenance, this massive desktop has improved cooling capabilities and tool-less access that allows you to gain access to vital components via a series of snap-on sliders and switches.
In terms of hardware, the desktop is exceptionally well equipped with either an Intel Kabylake Z170 or Kabylake H270 motherboard, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM in four DIMM slots and a 2TB 7200 hard disk.
Ports and storage consist of a top-mounted pair of USB 3.0 Type A ports, a pair of USB 3.0 Type C ports and a combo audio jack while the rear sports four USB 3.0 Type A ports, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI out, a Display Port v1.2 and a trio of audio jack line-outs. In keeping with the rest of the OMEN line, the desktop is liberally lit with red backlighting.
It also sports a DVD writer too. The roomy interior also offers gamers extensive options for upgrades – the desktop has the option of packing dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (SLI) GPUS or a dual Radeon RX580 in Crossfire configuration.
