Honor officially announces Honor 8 for RM1699 and new budget Honor 5A for RM599
Honor today officially announced the price for their new Honor 8 flagship phone. We took a firsthand look at the Honor 8 earlier and it offers bespoke looks in the form of a glass backplate sheathed in 16 layers of glass to create a unique striated effect when light bounces off the phone.
Aesthetics aside, the Honor 8 comes with a rear 12-MP dual pixel camera culled from the high end P9 with one camera capturing images in black and white along with another camera shooting in colour with both combining to offer better image quality. The phone also comes with a Kirin 950 processor, 4GB RAM and for Malaysia, will come in two different flavours – one with 32GB of storage and the other with 64GB of onboard expandable storage. The 32GB variant will ship in Pearl White and Midnight Black for RM1,699. The higher end Sunrise Gold and Sapphire Blue for RM1,899. The phone will hit stores on September 8 via Vmall and Lazada Malaysia as well as brick-and-mortar retailers at DirectD (Federal Highway and SS15 outlet) as well as selected SenHeng Malaysia stores.
Also announced at the press event was a new entry level phone dubbed the Honor 5A. Designed to appeal to the sub-RM1000 market the phone sports a rear 13-MP camera and a front 8-MP selfie camera, a 5,5-inch 720P display, a 64-bit octacore Kirin 620 CPU paired with 2GB RAM and a 16GB of expandable memory along with a built-in 3,100mAh battery. The phone runs on Android 5.1.
The Honor 5A comes in black and white for RM599 while the gold coloured version is a bit pricier at RM629 with both hitting the market on 20 September online at vmall.my and all markets nationwide. For more details swing by www.hihonor.com/my and www.vmall.my.
