HP’s ultra svelte new Spectre 13 notebook is here and yours from RM5999
HP Malaysia launched a whole array of printers as well as a new line-up of notebooks though the star of the show was their breathtakingly slim Spectre 13 notebook.
Arguably the most credible Macbook killer we’ve seen in aeons, the Spectre 13 is currently one of the thinnest notebooks on the planet at 10.4mm thin while also being absurdly light at 1.11kg on account of a chassis hewn from aluminium and carbon fibre.
The thinness is also on account of the inclusion of a different piston-style hinge design that eliminates the usual chunky external mechanism, subsuming most of it into the already slim chassis to make it little thicker than a magazine.
Amazing design aside, the Spectre 13 comes with a 13.3-inch, Full HD, 300 nit display sheathed in Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and comes with your choice of either the latest gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 8GB RAM and a 256GB PCie SSD with Windows 10 Home. The speakers are located on either edge of the keyboard rather than downward firing at the base or at the top and are tuned by Bang & Olufsen.
Holding it is an exquisite experience and typing on it is likewise sublime on the backlit keyboard. Even with the slimness of the notebook, the typing experience from our initial hands-on was surprisingly firm rather than the usual squishy compromise you’d expect from something this slim.
Like the new crop of devices, it comes with a trio of USB Type C ports. Battery life, according to HP, is rated at 9 hours. The HP Spectre 13 will retail for RM5,999 for the Intel Core i5 variant and RM6,900 for the Intel Core i7 processor variant. It also comes with an optional matching mouse, a slide-in case and a briefcase-style bag too though they’re all sold separately.
