LG launches their lusciously slim E6 and C6 OLED 4K TVs

LG today kicked off a grand launch that encompassed their entire range of tellies and white goods that included fridges, air conditioners, washing machines and more though the star of the show was their fetchingly slim E6 4K OLED TV that appeared earlier this year at CES 2016.

The LG E6 sports a 65-inch OLED panel with 3,840 x 2,160 pixel resolution and incorporates an anti-reflective film to reduce light reflections on the panel for better contrast. LG’s ColorPrime Pro engine along with it’s exceptional 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and and OLED panel’s ability to selectively switch each pixel off also ensures terrifyingly deep blacks and lusciously brilliant hues onscreen that, on paper is able to produce 50% more colour, 40 times more brightness and significantly more contrast than a conventional standard definition panel. To keep it thin – the panel itself is only the thickness of four stacked credit cards at 2.57mm thin at its thinnest point – LG has bonded the ultra slim OLED panel to a glass plate without compromising picture quality or aesthetics.

The E6 is also able to upscale conventional content to near UHD resolution and like earlier LG examples of their tellies, is able to also upscale content into 3D for viewing with their passive shutter glasses. The base of the E6 comes with a forward-firing 40W 2.2 channel Harman Kardon tuned integrated soundbar for audio playback. The TV is also compatible with a Netflix shortcut built in and runs on the latest incarnation of their WebOS firmware, now updated to 3.0 that lets you browse the net and access content from other devices. The price for this gorgeous looking telly? Oh, a mere RM32,999. It will be available at all good LG showrooms at retailers by June 2016.

Also launched at the same time is the LG C6 curved 4K OLED TV that comes in 65-inch and 55-inch denominations. Like the E6, the C6 TVs sport UHD resolution, is razor thin at 5mm at its thinnest point, sports a curved screen, runs on WebOS 3.0, has a similar ability to upscale content to near 4K  and is more affordable for the trade-off of lacking a built-in soundbar.
