New Samsung Wireless Charger Duo charges your new Galaxy Note9 and another watch or phone
If you are a fairly ardent technophile, you’ll likely have about your person a ton of kit that needs charging – at the very least a smartphone and a paired smartwatch and that’s not counting other stuff like headphones and the like. Unfortunately, all this kit means that it’s a challenge to charge them piecemeal. Leakster Roland Quandt’s most recent leaked render of the external packaging of what allegedly is the new Samsung Wireless Charger Duo dock may just handily resolve that problem as it looks like it can simultaneously charge two phones or even a phone and a smartwatch at the same time.
The timing of the leak is serendipitous, seeing as Samsung’s Galaxy Note9 launch is just around the corner on August 9, which means that the ostensible Samsung Wireless Charger Duo dock, designated with the model code EP-N6100 will see its debut at the Unpacked launch event for the Galaxy Note9 alongside Samsung’s eponymous flagship business phone.
The render itself is of the packaging of the Samsung Wireless Charger Duo and partially shows what the dock looks like along with several potential usage scenarios on the side. It looks somewhat like this year’s current generation Samsung wireless charging docks with a raised disc set at an angle to prop up a smartphone along with an extended lip to keep the phone secure at an angle.
Where it differs is that this raised platform will have a flat extended base that can allow you to plonk another smartphone or a smartwatch next to it with both supping on the mains via Qi wireless charging.
What makes things interesting is what else is inferred on the packaging. The third info titbit from the top mentions “Charge the phone and Galaxy Watch” which, assuming if the Wireless Charger Duo and everything that it implies is legit, means that Samsung is going to release their latest smartwatch at the same time as the Galaxy Note9 at the upcoming Unpacked event in New York on 9 August 2018.
Pricing, according to Quandt is to hover around the 99 Euros mark, which works out to about RM472 or so but like anything else, may differ radically at launch or on arrival in-country.
As always, it could all be an elaborate hoax until the curtain officially goes up in New York but if this is truly authentic, and odds are it is, then we may be experiencing one of the most exciting Unpacked launches in aeons. In any case, we’ll keep you posted.
