Nokia 8 announced with Zeiss optics, Snapdragon 835 processor and more
Nokia’s 3, 5 and 6 were announced and launched earlier this year as their initial foray back in the market. All three phones were affordable workhorses that came with exceptional craftsmanship and somewhat modest specs though Nokia has just announced their titular flagship of the year with impressive hardware, Zeiss optics and more. Enter their magnum opus for the year the Nokia 8.
The new Nokia 8 comes with an impressive ensemble of hardware and runs a stock version of Android 7.1 with the ability for an Android ‘O’ upgrade later on. The front display is a 5.3-inch QHD 2,560 x 1,440 pixel display sheathed in 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The hardware under the hood consists of a Snapdragon 835 processor running Android 7.1.1 stock, 4GB DDR4 RAM and 64GB of expandable memory. The rear camera integrates a dual-camera setup with a 13-MP camera that takes colour snaps and has optical image stabilisation while the other 13-MP camera takes mono images along with Zeiss optics. The front facing camera is a single facing 13-MP camera with phase detection autofocus, 1.12um micro pixels on the sensor and f/2.0 aperture. One feature that Nokia has touted is what they call Dual Sight that offers a dual video feed off the front and rear cameras for live streaming on social media and on snaps too. Another unique feature that Nokia has is something they call OZO Audio that integrates 360-degree audio when capturing 4K video for enhanced directional audio off the three built-in mikes.
Keeping things juiced is a 3,000mAh battery and the Nokia 8 comes in either single or dual SIM variants All this is crammed into a 4.6mm thin casing carved out of a single block of aluminium. The phone has been announced to come in three different colours – Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue and Steel with an announced retail price of €599 which works out to about RM3,030 though no local launch date or availability for Malaysia has been announced as yet. We’ll keep you lot posted on any developments.
