Nokia debuts retro 8110 4G phone at MWC 2018
Last year, Nokia heralded their return to the game with their classic 3310 phone updated for modern audiences. For 2018, Nokia has brought back their iconic Nokia 8110 banana slider phone that was made famous by Keanu Reeves and the Matrix movies.
The 8110 is still a feature phone albeit one that offers 4G connectivity and which runs Yun OS, a forked version of Android, that integrates a suite of Google-powered features like Google Search, Google Maps and the like as well as Facebook. And yes, it still has Snake on it.
Running under the hood of the 8110 is a basic Snapdragon 205 processor paired with 512MB RAM while getting about is via a T9 keypad as well as a 2.4-inch QVGA display. The phone runs on a 1,500mAh battery that ought to offer decent endurance seeing the modest size of the display. The phone can also act as a wifi hotspot in a pinch and has a rear 2-MP camera.
At MWC2018, Nokia announced that the price of the 8110 is 79 Euros (about RM380), that it will come in black and a brilliant looking yellow and that it will be available from May 2018.
