[Review] Samsung Galaxy Note7 – The phablet with the write stuff

Camera
The camera on the Note7 is similar to the S7 edge – a 12-MP rear sensor is paired with their Dual Pixel tech for superior low light performance, optical image stabilisation and an F/1.7 lens to serve up some of the best stills yet seen on a smartphone this year and 4K video too.

Snaps on auto mode were fantastic even in low light and videos were smooth and judder free with blazing fast and accurate autofocus. If you’re wont to do so, the Note7 is also able to take snaps in RAW for you to tweak later.  Auteurs will also appreciate the slight tweaks to the camera UI that have made it even easier to use. Simply swiping the edges of the display when in camera mode allows you to access the front and rear camera at will (by swiping up and down), a host of filters (by swiping from the right to the left) or the mode selection overlay (by swiping from the left to the right). Firing the camera up is simply a matter of double pressing the home button cum fingerprint reader at the base of the display with a boot-up time measured in seconds so you won’t miss the money shot.

The front facing selfie camera gives a good showing and its F/1.7 wide aperture means that you’re able to take in more of the background and your mates when taking a wefie though the real show stopper is still the Note7’s rear camera which remains one of the most capable, if arguably not the best so far, seen on a phone.
