Samsung Pay now in open beta for Maybank users
Samsung’s payment service tied to their latest devices like the S7 series is now in open beta with Maybank users being the first to get to experience Samsung’s mobile payment tech. Maybank Visa debit, credit and prepaid cards are able to integrate their card details with the service and get exclusive access until the end of the year. Other banks will gradually be integrated with Samsung Pay as time goes on.
The key advantage of Samsung Pay is that it’s able to interact with both modern credit card payment systems and even traditional magnet secure transaction (MST) ones so there’s universal compatibility wherever credit cards are accepted. The system is highly secure with a triple layer of security that includes Samsung’s milspec-grade KNOX security platform, with payment done by swiping the phone and then scanning their fingerprint to make payment. For additional security, the system also integrates tokenisation, which encrypts the credit card’s essential details with a unique identifier which is also encrypted. To wit, it’s as secure as it gets.
Currently, Samsung Pay is available on the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy A7 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2016). For those keen to register for the service, swing by www.samsung.com/my/samsungpayobt. For more details swing by www.samsung.com/my/samsungpay.
