Samsung’s Galaxy Note FE officially lands in Malaysia for RM2,599
Samsung’s Galaxy Note7 last year was unfortunately fraught with a host of battery issues that caused a number of unfortunate mishaps with the battery though they acted to quickly address the issue with a global product recall. While the Galaxy Note8 vastly exceeds what the Note7 was capable of, fans were still clamouring for the Note7. To that end, Samsung actually released a Galaxy Note Fan Edition earlier this year in South Korea for Note loyalists who were still clamouring for the phone. If you’re looking for a user experience akin to the Galaxy Note8 but at a more reasonable price point, you’re in luck as Samsung Malaysia has just announced that they will be bringing in the very same Galaxy Note FE to Malaysia.
The phone is essentially a Galaxy Note7 with much of the same hardware though it has a smaller 3,200mAh battery that has undergone their extensive 8-point battery check to ensure peace of mind. The Note FE is also assembled from unused Galaxy Note7 components rather than using assets from recalled phones, essentially making them fresh devices from the ground up.
The rest of the hardware consists of a similar 5.7-inch Quad HD Dual edge Super AMOLED display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution and 518ppi, an Exynos 8890 2.3GHz octacore processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
The rear sports their reliable 12-MP camera with optical image stabilisation, their Dual Pixel tech and an F/1.7 aperture capable of taking excellent shots. The front has a 5-MP selfie camera with an F/1.7 aperture. The phone also retains the front facing fingerprint sensor cum home button.
The main draw to the Galaxy Note experience – the S Pen stylus is in full working order on the Note FE and lets you sketch, doodle and otherwise jot down notes and sketches with tactility akin to a real pen. It also comes with their iris sensor for secure logins, fast charging support on the battery and Samsung Pay support.
The Galaxy Note FE retails for RM2,599 and will come in your choice of either Coral Blue or Black Onyx nationwide on 25 October 2017 at all Samsung Experience Stores, authorised dealers and channel partners along with telco bundles later on. If you’d to have an idea how it fares, read our Galaxy Note7 review here which should be similar to the Note FE bar the fact that it has a smaller battery and hence slightly less endurance in the field.
