Ubisoft’s original sprawling post-apocalyptic MMORPG shooter now has a sequel. At Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft announced The Division 2 which will have you as an activated Agent out to bring order and to protect what is left of society in a post-disaster Washington D.C.

These specialisations grant new skills, mods and new signature weapons. Unfortunately, the protagonist from the original game won’t be making an appearance in this one and there won’t be any progress carried over from the original game to the Division 2.

In the Division 2, they’ve made the map a one-to-one representation of the actual city, which ought to be a treat for locals though the city as we know it has been radically changed due toe aftermath of storms, floods and the virus, leaving parts of it flooded and in ruin. The game will have scalable World Tiers, will also feature the Dark Zone once more – a dangerous PvP no-holds-barred area replete with tons of loot as well as eight-player Raids.

During the launch announcement, Ubisoft also committed to a full free year of story-driven missions, map expansions and other new features. This works out to about three free expansions though their nature hasn’t been quite nailed down just yet.

They haven’t quite nailed down the other monetisation aspects of the game yet but an optional premium pass is on the cards that offers exclusive and premium content. The Division 2 will arrive for PC, Xbox One X and PS4 on March 15 2019. If you’re keen, you can swing by and sign up for a chance at the beta at http://thedivisiongame.com/beta.
