MSI X870 motherboard with improved DIY features and more revealed at Computex 2024
At Computex 2024, MSI announced the debut of their latest AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors on the MSI X870 motherboards with the launch of the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X, all of which are compatible with the AM5 socket and current AMD 600 series motherboards. In addition, the booth showcased the latest generation MSI X870 motherboards with a sneak peek at the new MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi and Pro X870-P WiFi boards.

The new MSI MAG X870 motherboards include a screwless M.2 Shield Frozr design for easier installation of M.2 heatsinks, an EZ PCIe release for easier removal of a large graphics card, an EZ M.2 Clip II for easier SSD installation and removal and an EZ Antenna design for easier installation and removal of WiFi connectors. Additional mod-cons include 5G LAN, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity for both the MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi and Pro X870-P.

All MSI X870 motherboards will also get Lightning PCIe Gen 5.0 and M.2 slots along with a USB 4 connector for speeds of up to 40GB/s.
Another showcase at the MSI booth for Computex 2024 was the Z790 PROJECT ZERO PLUS motherboards which are designed in collaboration with Kingston that feature CAMM2; an alternative to the current SO-DIMM memory solution that uses a compression connector that presses into a narrow vertical socket, has support for dual-channel per module with each module supporting up to 128GB.
For cooling, MSI has revealed the MPG CORELIQUID P series which have a UNI Bracket that supports both Intel and AMD sockets, has a unified cable design for a streamlined connection between the water block and radiator fan into a single cable and features a larger 4.3-inch IPS panel with adjustable angles. The MSI MAG CORELIQUID I has the aforementioned UNI Bracket for easier installation of Intel and AMD processors and has pre-installed fans on the radiator and cable cover.
For DIY enthusiasts that need a powerful high-wattage power supply, the MSI MEG Ai1600T PCIE5 with ARGB lighting effects made with titanium components looked intriguing at the MSI showroom floor. It also features SiC-MOSFET with interleaved PFC for better stability and efficiency in power correction and a native 12V-2×6 connection that’s future-ready for AI computing while meeting ATX 3.1 standards.
On top of their showcase designs, MSI also revealed their MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ mid-tower case that comes in black and white colourways with a chassis that optimises airflow, features a diamond-shaped cutout design and has dual-layer 160mm fan-blades.
MSI also revealed a slew of other tech including the MSI MEG Vision X AI gaming desktop, a range of monitors and the new QD-QLED displays. For more details check out MSI’s official page here.
