Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i debut in Malaysia
Huawei Malaysia rolled out their latest midrange additions to their line-up of phones with the addition of the rather fetching looking Nova 3 and Nova 3i that bear somewhat of a resemblance to the higher end Huawei P20 albeit with more reasonable price tags that hover under the RM2K mark.
Externally, both the new Nova 3 and Nova 3i look somewhat similar to each other with notched displays and a shiny metallic looking backplate in multiple colours though the Nova 3 technically has better rear cameras and hardware under the hood as well as an additional ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor and an infrared sensor on the front for a more effective Face Unlock mode under any light conditions.
Up close, the Nova 3 has a 6.3-inch touchscreen with 2,340 x 1080 pixel resolution and a generous 19.5:9 aspect ratio, a Kirin 970 processor akin to that seen on the P20, 6GB RAM, 128GB of built-in storage and a rear dual camera array that pairs up a 16-MP colour sensor with a 24-MP mono sensor. The front comes with a dual-camera that pairs up a 24-MP f/2.0 camera and a secondary 2-MP sensor for depth detail. Keeping it powered is a 3,750mAh battery.
The Nova 3i has an identical touchscreen, a newer mid-tier Kirin 710 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage and a more modest rear camera array that has a 16-MP camera and a 2-MP sensor riding shotgun. The front dual camera selfie array is otherwise identical to the Nova 3. The battery is also slightly smaller at 3,340mAh as well.
The Nova 3 will arrive in Malaysia in your choice of red, black and a natty shade of Iris Purple next month on 17 August at a retail price of RM1,899 while the Nova 3i will arrive in black, white or a similar shade of Iris Purple as the Nova 3 on 28 July at RM1,249.
