Huawei Smart Office launch reveals refreshed MateBook D 15, MatePad 10.4 and more

Huawei is looking to take the concept of a smart office to its fullest potential as their latest Huawei Smart Office launch revealed a slew of offerings that take interconnectivity and an intelligent office to new heights.

Launched at the Huawei Smart Office event today in Malaysia is a refreshed version of their MateBook D15 laptop with upgraded RAM and storage, an upgraded MatePad 10.4 tablet running their own Harmony OS 2, a new PixLab X1 laser printer, a new portable speaker dubbed the SoundJoy and a new Mesh 3 WiFi router. Taken together, each of this new pieces of kit are greater than the sum of their parts to form a connected ‘Smart Device, Super Creativity’ ecosystem that acts as a catch-all for seamless pairing and connectivity.

In essence, the new MateBook D 15 2022 can act as a nexus of sorts, pairing seamlessly with the new PixLab X1 printer in seconds to print out stuff, with the New SoundJoy to play a tune or two and to also pair up with the MatePad 10.4 2022 to allow the tablet to act as a screen extension. The trick here is the use of their own Huawei Share feature that enables this seamless pairing to occur in a fashion somewhat akin to gear from Cupertino.

Huawei MatePad 10.4 2022 Price in Malaysia and Specifications

The upgraded Huawei MatePad 10.4 2022 has aesthetics and a design similar to its predecessor but adds a variety of subtle updates including compatibility with the new 2nd generation M-Pencil stylus and an update to Harmony OS over the existing EMUI OS.  

You get a 10.4-inch 2K Huawei FullView display, a quadcore 2.0GHz processor running their latest Harmony OS 2, 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage with a rear 13MP F/1.8 camera and a front facing 8MP camera for video calls.

The built-in battery has 7,250mAh and has 10V charging support. Connectivity for the revamped MatePad 10.4 2022 offers up to 4G LTE and WiFi and you also get .

Much like its predecessor, the tablet ships with a keyboard cover for hammering out some serious paperwork. It also has the ability to act as a secondary screen for a Huawei laptop too. 

In Malaysia, the Huawei MatePad 10.4 will be priced at RM1,599 for the WiFi only model and is available for preorders starting from 22nd April until 2nd May 2022 with free gifts that include a free Huawei Smart Keyboard cover and the 2nd Gen M-Pencil stylus with a collective value of RM898 thrown in for free for the preorder.

The revamped Huawei MateBook D15 2022 ditches its predecessor’s usage of an AMD CPU and opts for an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 1135G7 CPU to power the hardware.

The crown jewel of the Huawei Smart Office launch, the Huawei MateBook D15 2022 has a 15.6-inch IPS LCD display with a 60Hz refresh rate, the aforementioned 11th Gen i5 CPU, either 8GB or 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage with Iris Xe graphics. Keeping it powered is a 42Wh battery with 65W SuperCharge fast charging. 

One thing they’ve retained is the pop-up keyboard-mounted webcam which lends it some measure of of security as it has to be triggered manually. Connectivity is up to date with fast WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5 and the laptop runs Window 11 Home and their own Huawei PC Manager that allows it to pair up with a Huawei tablet like the MatePad 10.4 2022 to pass content back and forth or to act as a secondary display.

The MateBook D 15 2022 comes with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage retails for RM3,099 while the 16GB RAM and 512GB variant retails for RM3,399. Preorders start on 22nd April and purchasing one gets you RM827 in free gifts that include a Huawei backpack, a Bluetooth mouse and a pair of Freelace wireless earbuds.

Huawei PixLab X1, Sound Joy and WiFi Mesh 3 Price in Malaysia and Specifications

Huawei’s first desktop printer, the PixLab X1 is a mono laser printer that lets you copy, print and scan documents. The printer is powered by Harmony OS and has a printing speed of 28 pages per minute with automatic double-sided printing with 4GB of onboard storage and 512GB RAM.

Connectivity options are diverse with WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5, wired Ethernet and a USB 2.0 port along with NFC for diverse access options. You can also print directly off a phone using the Huawei AI Life App. There’s no official word on the Pixlab X1 price but it will arrive in Malaysia in the near future.

The compact Huawei Sound Joy speaker is a team-up between Huawei and French audio tech outfit Devialet that aims to deliver maximum sound with as compact a footprint as possible. The portable wireless speaker has IP67 water and dust resistance and has a huge battery for up to 26 hours of play time.

The Huawei WIFi Mesh 3 is their take on a mesh router with the ability for easy access for a WiFi network especially for other Huawei devices. The WiFi Mesh 3 also offers network coverage monitoring when viewed via a paired Huawei AI Life app off a Huawei phone. At present, the WiFi Mesh 3 and Sound Joy will also arrive in Malaysia in the near future but have no price or availability date as yet.
